12oz. bottle poured into a tulip-style glass. It pours a deep ruby red color with two finger of light tan head. There is a tiny bit of lacing. The smell has some roasted malt character to it, with a slight nuttiness, but not much else going on. The taste also has lots of roasted malt character. There's a little bit of oak, and some almonds. Not bad. The mouthfeel is a little light and watery. The drinkability is great though. Thanks to Chris for this solid brew.

One of the best brown ales I've ever had, and I've had several. I wish I could get it North of the Cumberland Gap! I got this off the tap with a steak and it paired up brilliantly. I had two glasses and the consistency was amazing. This had an infallible taste with the food I ordered. From the perfect quarter inch head of sparkling white foam to the caramel brown color, this is one beer that is best served on tap and taken multiple times. It smells of walnut, understated hops, and caramel. I can't say enough good things about it.

Appearance: The ice tea colored beer arrives with a nice head that leaves a fair amount of lacing on the glass
Smell: Brown bread, hazelnut and caramel notes
Taste: Brown bread and caramel, up front, with a developing nut and mocha character in the middle; the finish marks a return of the caramel to bring a bit of nutty sweetness
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: I don't drink a lot of English Browns but I found this one to be flavorful and well-crafted
