Got this from a friend from TN. Appearance almost resembles a cola. Not as dark as other porters. Slight tan head on pour and disapates quickly. Little to no lacing. Aroma is some slight coffee, smoky chocolate. Taste is chocolate and coffee and some light hops. Very smooth good mouthful. Easy drinking nice porter.

Pours a big light brown head that dies into a long lasting full lacing above a what i think is a clear dark brown with a red tinted colored beer.

Dark fruits (Apricots maybe Prunes) with Hershey's special dark chocolate and light coffee hints on a dark roasted malts aroma.

A dark dry roasted taste with a light smooth dark chocolate taste that brings with it very light coffee hints.

A dry aftertaste with a lot of dark chocolate hanging around on this medium bodied beer.

This is a very solid porter, I really wish I lived within the distribution range of Blackstone.

Dark brown cola colored body with good carbonation and decent tan head.

Smell is roast, chocolate, and coffee.

Chocolate and coffee flavors are followed up by blackstrap molasses.

A little thin in the body, but good carbonation.

This was a solid porter, and very drinkable.

Bottle: Poured a deep brown color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of caramel malt with some notes of roasted malt. Taste is also a mix between some caramel malt with distinctive roasted malt notes with a dry finish. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very different then most porter with less dry roasted malt notes then I am used to but very interesting nonetheless.

A: Pours a dark brown with two fingers of khaki head that recedes into a thin layer with little lacing.

S: Roasted malts and some creamy chocolate up front. I also occasionally get this smell of what reminds me of butter . . . rancid butter. No idea what it is, though, since the glass was cleaned before use and it doesn't show up in the taste. Quite unappealing when it shows up.

T: Roasted malts with some creamy chocolate notes. The finish is slightly bitter with a hint of some coffee flavor.

M: Medium body with mid-high carbonation, this beer avoids being watery with a nice carbonation bite to it.

O: An alright porter that is a little on the simple side. I'm not for sure if I got a bad bottle with that awful buttery aroma, but other than that it's decent enough.

Mouthfeel was quite creamy and the beer started with a rich, roasted coffee flavor. A great start, but it never took off and the flavor did not develop. Wound up being pretty average. Not bad, but not very interesting.
