Brewed with native Pennsylvania neck pumpkins harvested just a few miles from our brewery at Strites’ Orchard, Master of Pumpkins conjures the spirit of autumn by combining roasted pumpkins and traditional pie spices with a French saison yeast. This natural fermentation releases a palate of vanilla, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger, and honey. In addition to 750mL bottles, Master of Pumpkins is also currently available on draft and for take-out growler fills in the Tasting Room. Taste it you will see. More is all you need!

The most delicious pumpkin beer I've had since I first tasted Pumking. It's gorgeously brown with a thick head and smells like gingersnap cookies and fresh baked pumpernickel bread. A deep roasty flavor that hits you right away but also lingers long after and permeates the whole thing. Light on the spice flavors, super heavy on the roasted pumpkin and gingerbread flavors. 7.5% abv makes it drink more like an imperial style but not as heavy as others. Overall absolutely scrumptious!

Master of Pumpkins – from Tröegs Brewing. Single 16 oz can. In reefer at Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. Acquired 22/09/23, $ 3.00 (Including tax), $ 0.188/fl oz. Reviewed 01/10/23 (Review 3161). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Bottom of can stamped “FRESHEST BY 03/26/23”. Stored at 34 degrees at home. Served at 54.3 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 58.4 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Pale Amber (SRM 9), clear.
Body – Medium Amber (SRM 12), muddy. Under direct light, same with visible precipitate. When rear-lite, hazy deep gold light passes through.
Head: Large (Maximum 5.5 cm, aggressive center pour), beige, high density. Rapidly reduces, leaving a 3 - 4 mm crown and cap.
Lacing – Poor. A rare small island three mm or less hangs on the glass.
Aroma – 4.25 – Light nutmeg and clove. No hops, no yeast, no malt. No ethanol (7.5 % ABV according to the label).
Flavor – 4.25 – Essentially following the nose. Both the cinnamon (My favorite spice) and ginger are well in the background. Some of the earthiness from the pumpkins comes through. No hops, no yeast, no malt. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Mild gastric warming occurs, but it could easily be from the spices.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium; watery; lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4 Even though this is last year’s batch, it’s good.

Decent, with a lot of spice on the finish. Not overly sweet and low carbonation. This isn't going to dethrone the usual seasonal suspects, and at nearly $5 for a pint can, I won't be running out to grab more any time soon.

Pours a clear, golden amber color with a foamy three finger head. Aroma is pumpkin, nutmeg and clove. Taste is pumpkin with cinnamon following. The body is light and so is the taste profile, as it looks like it should be punching higher in the body quotient of brews. Such is not the case.

L - Copper with a slight ruby hint and two finger light tan head.

S - Light nose of malt, cinnamon and nutmeg.

T - Caramel, malt and a light blend of pumpkin pie spices, all of which is wonderfully balance and not overwhelming like some other pumpkin beers.

F - Medium body and carbonation with a smooth feel.

O - This is a nice balanced pumpkin beer that just seems to click. I could drink this all day without tiring of the taste.

This is an astoundingly delicious beer. I’ve tried just about every pumpkin beer under the sun, and this one is my favorite. Perfect balance of light and shade, heavy and dark, winter and summer, and a rare blend of spices that make a fantastic tasting beer.

Another October day, another Pumpkin Beer. I’ve been meaning to try Tröegs’ take on the style for quite some time now, but always tend to miss it when it’s around. Now that I’ve finally found it, let’s see how it stacks up to the rest of them this season

Pours a mostly clear amber brown with 2 fingers of creamy light tan head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves decent lacing

The spices in the nose give an odd, almost perfume-like vibe, but I kinda like it. I’m picking up on aromas of nutmeg, orange zest, cooked pumpkin, ginger, rye bread, spicy clove, light cinnamon, and brown sugar

It’s less perfumey in taste, feeling a bit richer and malty, and still just as good. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting caramel malt, roasted pumpkin, biscuit, nutmeg, earthy cinnamon, vanilla, and light red apple. The swallow brings notes of roasted pumpkin, brown sugar, clove, caramel malt, nutmeg, sweet honey, vanilla, and ginger

A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a creamy yet zesty beer. Finishes mostly dry with a balanced spice profile

This one is pretty damn good, much better than I had anticipated given the ratings. Probably one of my favorites I’ve had this season

A beautiful looking beer, deep copper in color with some reddish hues; crystal clear with a thick creamy offwhite head.

Nose is clove at first, some yeastiness accompanied by some nutmeg, pumpkin meat and fall spice.

The taste is heavier on pumpkin meat, then cinnamon with a nutmeg clove finish; minor yeast and with an almost saison/belgian like finish.

Medium body, really smooth and creamy mouthfeel; it gives the impression of vanilla but there is none, I don't think. The carbonation is also unique, almost bottle (can) conditioned feel with creamy bubbles. Spices give it a tannin like bitterness to me.

This is a unique and somewhat different pumpkin beer, and for that I'm enjoying it and really appreciate it. If you appreciate nuance and something different in a pumpkin beer give this one a try.

I definitely enjoy the way this one tastes, it reminds me of Pumking. That said the feel kind of suffers, it's quite light bodied and just plain thin. Taste is done well.

A thanks to the commander of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a pretty auburn color with a 1 inch head. Smell is full of pumpkin, spices. Taste is the same as the aroma, a touch of vanilla as well. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.
