Notes/Commercial Description:
Inspired by nature's untamed beauty, LaGrave (pronounced \l?-gräv\) is the first of our 12.7-oz. corked and caged bottle releases. Bottle conditioned and highly carbonated, this Triple Golden Ale is steeped in the tradition of strong ales originally brewed in Belgium. The unique Belgian yeast forms the bedrock of LaGrave’s complex flavors. Strong and alluring at 8% ABV, LaGrave boasts a sweet, fruity flavor with a well-rounded mouthfeel and semi-dry, lingering bitter finish.

A - Pours a golden orange with a nice three finger white fluffy heads, however, the foam dies down fairly quick, some floaties, and medium carbonation.

S - Thick yeasty/bready in the nose with some bananas and very mild spice.

T - Honey, bready, yeasty, very faint lemon and spice, cloves, bananas, fruity (melons, pears) and on the sweet side with a light pine spice bitter finish.

M - Full medium body, semi-dry, with a moderate amount of gentle carbonation.

O - A nice U.S. interpretation but not as good as our European counterparts. Still solid, but a little heavy on the bready yeastiness.

12 oz.

Pours a hazy lemon gold, sudsy white head at a half inch dissipates slowly.

Smells of coriander, lemon peel, and grassy malts.

Tastes of lemon, orange, coriander, clove, banana, and grassy malts. Perhaps a hint of strawberry. Finishes with a dry lightly bitter hoppiness.

Full body with fluffy tingly carbonation on the roof of the mouth.

A very good imitation of a legit Belgian ale, especially in the body. Aroma is decent and flavor is very good. Definitely worth trying, as good as some of the lesser Belgian approximations from Unibroue and Ommegang.

Very carbonated as stated on the bottle. Initial sip was a bit like a bitter pill, with some Pilsner-like qualities. As the beer settled in the glass and warmed, it began to open up and reveal some of its complexity & warmth. That's more like it. A good Belgian style ale certainly worth drinking, but not necessarily worth seeking out with all the other good products from Belgium that are widely available (such as Affligem, which is more enjoyable). A decent golden nonetheless.

Well I have to admit for the 4 dollar single this caught my eye. I am even more excited that they will be releasing other singles like this which is a great way to tick without downing a whole bomber.

A - well the carbonation is massive enough making a solid inch of head that eventually settles to a mild very sticky lace ring.
S - Honey sweetness, very little spice or cloves, some mild hops in the background.
T - It drinks pretty well for a triple so it makes me wonder the heavy spice or dry yeast body is. Not overall sweet but it does have some crisp bite to it. Balanced.
M - It has a very medium body I have been sipping and enjoying but it is drinking on par with the ABV.

Overall this is a fairly great Trippel ale I like the balanced hops to malts and the easy going coriander spice. Worth picking up just to try.
