A-Pours orange with a thin, white layer of froth.
S-Hoppy tropical fruit nose that is quite impressive, especially for the ABV. Citrusy, with some peach and grass.
T-Packs plenty of hoppiness into a tiny frame. Grapefruit, clementine and nectarine hop flavors along with a grassy flavor as well. Malt is dry and bready.
M-Obviously light but it still has some body to it. Bitter. No alcohol. Vibrant bubbles. Very drinkable.
O-One of the better session IPAs I have had. I like session IPAs. They're not for everyone and I think they have a relatively low ceiling but for what it's worth, I am always pleased to see how much hoppiness they can fit in a beer under 5%.

Had this on 2014-05-13 at the brewery
A - Clear, dark orange with a 1.5-finger off-white head and nice lace.
S - Fresh, juicy pineapple flesh, orange zest, touch of pine, mild dank, hop floral. Very impressive.
T - Hop forward with pine and light dankness yields to some spice, sourdough bread and light caramel malt sweetness. Then some nice citrus flesh disperses the malt and is followed by just the right amount of bitterness. This doesn't taste like hop water! It has the malt balance that I like in a sessionable beer, striking a balance similar to how it is done in 21st Amendment's Bitter American, but this clearly is more in the IPA-lover camp.
M - Light-medium body and medium-high carbonation give a somewhat-substantial feel; at least for this type of brew. Not watery.
O - I am very impressed with this brew. It's better than all the other Session IPAs I've had including Founders All Day IPA, Stone's Go To IPA, Terrapin RecreationAle, and even Fat Head's Sunshine Daydream (although the Citra Double Dry Hopped version is on par with
Notes: I reviewed this specifically as a Session IPA and the ratings are reflective of being in this category instead of a Pale Ale or an IPA. Also of interest, I had this side-by-side with Scratch 142 at 4.9% ABV and liked the aroma and flavor of this Scratch 140 quite a bit more. As far as I'm concerned, this brew can be their official Session IPA from here on out. Good stuff.

Had this one on-tap today and it was a bit better than the cask but still just ok. Updated my scores accordingly.
Served via Firkin at the brewery.
A - Pours golden orange with a nice two finger tall white head, quickly dissipating down to a light film, leaving sticky rings of lace down the sides of the glass.
S - Smells of grassy hops, mildly toasted caramel malt, a bit of tropical fruit and some light sweetness. Not as hoppy as I was expecting it to be.
T - Starts off with some smooth caramel malt sweetness and some light grassy hop bitterness slowly being joined by a bit of fruitiness and some mildly toasted bread. Finish is a mix of malt and hops, lingering long after the finish.
M - Medium body with moderate to low carbonation. Smooth feel from the cask makes it very easy to consume.
O - A decent enough session IPA. Most of the flavors have been muted by the cask, one of the main reasons I don't like IPA's in casks. I will have to try the draft version when it comes out soon.
