Bottle poured into one of my standard curved-rim pint glasses.
A: Pours a dark shade of brown, not entirely black, with a nice light brown head on top that didn't stick around for very long.
S: Notes of coffee and char, but it also smells "dry and hoppy", kind of like a milder version of a black IPA.
T: Coffee flavors are more present in the taste than they were in the nose. Light notes of vanilla and cream arrive early with the coffee flavor, before giving way to a bit bigger and bolder flavors of burnt malts and dry hops. All the while, the coffee flavor hangs in there, and even grows a bit in volume.
This beer finishes dry with a good touch of hops. A very balanced and diverse brew. It has a lot going on, but none of it appears to be overdone.
M: Relatively light at first, but finishes very dry with a touch of hops.
D/O: Well done, Troegs. This one was better than I remembered it. Certainly repeatable.
