Stopped into the Brewpub on 30JAN15 and had a pint of this to slake my thirst, at $5.50.

Served in a tall, slender pint glass, it was a clear, deep, dark chestnut/mahogany color. Head was beige, thin and fine, but sparse, though lacing was decent. Aroma was nice, with some roasty notes plus a smidge of caramel. The body was almost medium, just a bit on the thinner side, though it was fairly smooth.

Tasted roasty, with some light, bitter dark choco and a hint of sweetness and toffee. Had some earthy, floral hopping near the end, where there was still more bitterness. A solid bier, though I don't think it's quite hefty or complex enough to fall into the Baltic Porter category. Zum Wohl!!

I had this on tap at the Brewery tasting room, served chilled in a tulip style pint.

The color is dark cola brown with crimson shade at the base of the glass with translucent clarity and thick tan head with fine bead -lace sticks well. The aroma of dark fruit is dominant at first with mild roast odor/slight toasted and gentle hint of caramel/toffee with slight pine scent and spice from hops. The feel is very good with strong malt layers which lead to a dark toasted grain and gentle sweetness mid palate with some fruity elements of yeast with subtle bitterness and mild char in the back with semi-dry finish.

The taste is good with a dark cherry , tobacco-taste and slight earthy flavor with moderate roast on entry and subtle yeast adding to the mild dark caramel/toffee sweetness which rounds it with chewy dark bready quality in the finish and slight burnt toast aspect as it finishes with mild chalky quality either depth of dark malt or mineral yeast I am not sure. The taste is good with substantially malt forward presentation. Overall I could drank this repeatedly -One of the best in the style I have had recently. I like how the abv is low enough to make for a drinkable porter -I could not taste alcohol but you know it is there with plenty of dark malt that is like an Imperial Schwarzbier since the lager yeast character comes through
