A: Pours a hazy light golden color with a very small head and bits of lacing.

S: Mild aroma of fresh grain, spice and a bit of citrus.

T: has a fresh grain flavor with a tangy bite and a trace of lemon. Finish is quite dry with bit of a sticky sweet aftertaste.

F: Fairly medium body, a bit crisp and refreshing.

O: Nice beer but not one of my facorite styles, tad too sweet and sticky.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

A: Good head and lacing. Light gold.

S: Good wheat smell, very potent. Aromatic banana smell like a good German Hefeweizen.

T: Bitter for a wheat beer, not what I was expecting from the decent smell.

M: Almost flat, not much fizz going on unfortunately.

D: Not the best wheat out there, there are other options but definitely worth a shot.

Not too bad, decent head. Very light aroma, a little citrusy. Taste is obvious banana, actually lots of banana. Carbonation is decent, this beer is refreshing and did I mention banana, wow it is there !!!!

From a bottle into my trusty standard Troeg's pint glass. Pours a hazy gold with a modest head and some residual lacing. Not an unattractive beer in any way.

Smell is wheat and citrus with minimal hops. Not overpowering at all, very pleasant.

Taste is a little weak for my taste, but pretty much a classic wheat beer.

Mouthfeel is crisp but smooth.

Drinkability is fine at this ABV, could see myself with a couple of these on a warm summer evening.

Another very nice beer from the Trogner brothers.

12oz bottle. Didn't really see much to rave about in this one, but then again, American Pale Wheat Ale isn't exactly the most exciting style, is it?

Cloudy yellow color with an average sized white head.

Sweet aroma with some wheat and some light fruits. Just a little banana/clove. Fairly faint compared to other examples of this style.

Flavor is mildly sweet pale malts and not much of your typical phenolic taste that we all love (mmm...phenols). A little yeast and some grainy bitterness, with just a touch of hops.

Light bodied and somewhat crisp with ever so slight hop resins. A tad watery.

Overall, reasonable but not up to Troegs' usual standard. Drinkability is pretty good.

Poured this one with all of the yeast into a tumbler. Typical look for style, straw colored and cloudy with a decent 1-finger whitish head.
Smelled earthy and slightly spicy. No fruit smell like a hefeweizen, just yeast. First taste was very yeasty and bitter with some clovey sspiciness in the background. Mouthfeel was on the creamy side aand fairly smooth. Drinkability was OK for me as I prefer a few oothers of this style ahead of this one. Still a solid brew when a wheat is in order.

reviewed over dinner on feb 10.

bought a sampler case and a six pack of this variety was inside. never had it before, but looked tempting.

golden in color and very hazy. little hops with much flavor. beer should be consumed in the summer. reminds me a lot of a hefeweizen brew.

will drink it again (only in may or june).

From notes.

A - pours a clear bright golden color. Large and dense white head. Wait for head to subside and pour the rest including yeast. Apperiance becomes a cloudy yellow.

S - mild aroma of cloves, bubblegum, and some mild spice possibly from the wheat or yeast. Not much else though.

T - follows the aroma. Clove. Peppery spice. Some juicy fruit sort of sweetness. Dry finish.

M - light bodied. A bit fizzy.

D - easy drinking American wheat. A little lacking in flavor though.

Thanks Froggyfrog for the trade!

Appearance: Quite opaque golden yellow, it gleamed in the light like a fine Sauternes dessert wine. Pearly white head, fugacious.

Smell: Bready, plenty of esters and bananas with a wheaty, oaty finale.

Taste: Light bodied, coriander, cloves and citrusy, a nice refreshing wit, maybe a little too cookie-cutter but nicely done.

Poured a 12oz bottle into glass forming a very short-lived head, pale straw yellow color, hazy with visible carbonation. The smell is CLOVES, I couldn't detect any hops aroma in this at all. It smells and tastes like the clove gum my grandparents always had. The mouthfeel is quite full with a (surprise!!) clove finish with a slight lemon hops taste and in the finish. Even though it reminds me of a Christmas ham I find myself liking this beer. It's got something to it that's quite refreshing, can't wait to try it with food, bet ham'd be a great choice!!! Wiedersehen Y'all

I got this 12oz single from a mix pack obtained at Wegmans in Cicero NY. Bottled on June 23 2010, served cold in a chilled pint glass.

Cloudy and very pale yellow brew gives 1" of white foam that settles to a think layer that leaves a bit of thin lace. Smell is mostly stale cinnamon. Taste/feel is a moderate unidentifiable hop bite, stale cinnamon, some smooth milky character... thin and highly carbonated but still reasonably smooth. Finish is fading cinnamon and hop, mostly dry.

12 oz bottle from Trader's Joe. Pours deep golden with long lasting white head, a lot of lacing and carbonation. Aroma is of wheat malt, banana and yeast. Body is medium and crisp. Taste is similar to aroma. Finish is medium, somewhat sour. Good thirst quencher.

pours a slightly grey-ish golden, relatively small head which drops too fast, though the ring stays around and a bit of lace left on the glass.

smell is my favorite part of this brew -a little spicy, a little fruity (apple, banana), and some malt.

taste is interesting, but not that appealing to me. I love a good weiss, but the balance seems a bit off on this. also seems like relatively minimal wheat used. also maybe a little much spice. pretty decent hop notes on the end.

mouthfeel is pretty smooth, but a bit thin.

the finish on this beer doesn't appeal much to me, which makes the drinking of more than one very much unappealing.

12oz bottle with Bottled on Date of 021811. Pours a hazy orangey yellow with very little head. Some lacing. Smells of sour lemon, yeast, and spices. Tastes pretty watered down. Flavors of lemon, grains, and yeast. Lots of spice flavor at the end. A bit thin in the mouthfeel department. Overall this beer would be alright in the summer but it is pretty average. This was the worst beer of the mix 12 pack. I won't be buying this beer again.

Poured into a Iron Hill pint glass.

Full, yeasty body with a nice scent of citrus, banana, and nutmeg. Has a hefeweizen-caliber body that fits the bill better than many area American Hefes (such as Lancaster Brewing's Hefe). Very bready and delicate flavors feeding into a spicy malt that has a nice sweetness on the back end. A touch tart on the back end, but finished the way a pale wheat should, light and round.

My problem is that the tartness offsets the basic water component to really give the beer a hint of strangeness to the mouthfeel and finish. Further, while it was a great idea to leave the beer unfiltered, the roundness of the beer detracts greatly from the crispness I've come to expect from a Pale Wheat Ale.

This is not my favorite style, and this is not my favorite example of the style, however its a solid example of the group. The color is a golden straw with a simple white head. It has that wheat beer taste, with something i cant put my finger on, maybe yeast that im not too fond of. I think its a decent beer that should be tried especiallly if you like wheat beer.

I feel like this beer has a load of potential, but I am surprised at the lack of depth that it has, especially coming from Troegs. It pours with an almost translucent light yellow color with a moderate head. The smell is faint, and has a touch of sweetness to it. The taste is weak. Its almost the same consistency as a US macro brew, but instead of the rice taste there is a wheat sweetness. A touch of citrus too. This beer goes down pretty easy, but unfortunately leaves little that lingers, and leaves nothing to be desired.

This is a rather average beer all the way across the board. A cloudy, yellow-straw appearance that is very cloudy. No head to speak of and and no lacing on the top - standard fare for light Hefes.

Plenty of bananas, bubblegum, and cloves in the nose. Smells very refreshing.

Taste is a bit watery and light around the edges - overpowering banana bread taste. The spices are too weak - if they had cranked these up a bit it might have balanced out the fruity character of the bananas. I know it's a Hefe and supposed to be light, but just not enough punch packed in this nondescript summer brew. Might re-visit this again in the summer, but just too many other Hefes that beat this hands down.

I'm a Troegs fan, but not of this one. It's too medicinal, and a bit skunky and thin.

A: A hazy yellow, dull, amber in color with when poured hard, a large off white head at the top, a medium rate of lacing. (must pour hard)

S: Way too sweet, way too medicinal. More like over-ripe bananas and pink gum with some cleaning fluid in the air. Back of the bus kind of smell. Even some bad perfume. Would not want to be trapped with this smell.

T: Too much like the smell, way too sweet up front and perhaps too much carbonation, I am not getting much real fruit on my try. Again, stale banana peel, and everything you dont like about gum and perfume, or the back of a long bus ride.

M: Too light bodied beer with a lot of carbonation, almost tasted like a turned banana-orange soda.

O: This is a bad beer and too sweet. Go back and try again, or give up on this style.

Serving type- 12 ounce bottle with an unclear best by date poured into a hefe glass.

I got this beer as an extra in a trade I had recently. This beer pours a bright yellow color. With the carbonation activity present after the pour this beer reminds me of a glass of champagne instead of a beer. No cling or head present after the pour. The taste is of a usual wheat beer with spices of lemon zest and bannana, nothing different or varied here. The taste follows closely with the smell. This tastes like a good representative of an American Pale Wheat beer. A little weaker than a hefe but more fruity than the American Pale Ales that I have had. This is a decent beer and was rather good considering the temperature and humidity lurking outside after the afternoon mow. This is a session beer that, if available to me on a regular basis, would make it into the summertime BBQ rotation. I can see myself easily knocking back a few of these and not feeling weighted down or even drunk. Thanks for the chance of having this beer dyan.

A: Golden color with white head, some bubbles.

S: Very intense wheat smell even from 12 inches away from my nose, slightly inundating.

T: No distinct flavors that my palate can ascertain...yeasty taste.

M: Mildly carbonated, leaves yeasty aftertaste that dissipates quickly.

O: OK. Only bought one to try. This won't be on the short list of UW beers. Might benefit from a splash of citrus but the lack there of makes this beer different that most UWs I have sampled.

Note: something displeases me about wheat beer as a type. So I am not the best person to be reviewing this. But

Appears light amber, light white skim on top; some lacing.

Smells like a wheat beer exclaiming its wheatbeerdom. Banana yeastiness, heady fruit syrup aroma. Which wheat beer people would really enjoy.

Taste is an expression of banana wheatness, with a tiny bit of bitterness.

Mouthfeel I liked. Fills the mouth, not overcarbonated. Well made mouthfeel.

This beer is not for me, but I imagine others would love it.

Pours a hazy dull gold with a thin white head that lasted through three-quarters of the glass and left partial lace. The aroma is wheat with some sour notes detected as well. The flavor is again wheat with some sour notes and also a bit of cloves. No banana flavors detected. Not amazing, but not awful.

Thanks, jbravato. Poured into a weizen glass from a 12oz bottle. Bottling date is printed on the neck as "04/02/13."

Poured vertically into the glass, this produces a soft, straw color with amber tones, as well as a slightly frothy yet consistently fizzy white head about 3 fingers large. The head soon dissipates into about a half finger but doesn't fully let go. Bubbles are plentiful, and the yeast is present enough to produce a decent, average color for the style. A little bit more golden than I like it, however, and definitely not creamy enough.

At the aroma, I get pretty large notes of bananas, peaches, toffee, honey, citrus peel, and cane sugar sweetness. Definitely not too complex, but they did nail the banana esters I love in this style quite well. Feels wet and slightly sweetened overall in character, but the yeasty phenols are are the forefront here, and the grains and wheat malts are secondary, providing a bit of breezy crispness and a bready, cracker-y feel. Pleasant - well made for a American session wheat offering.

I get the same experience in the flavor as I did in the aroma, with my palate meeting bananas, cider, apricots, and toffee galore, as well as a touch of wheatgrass from the hops, but right at the middle these flavors are soon replaced with more of the wheat/grain backbone. Unfortunately, this gets progressively graining, especially as this loses more carbonation in the long run. The beer soon adopts grainy, raspy qualities that detract from the fluffy wheat texture and sticky, yeasty qualities in the beer. Halfway through I nearly decided to pound this before it got any worse. The alcohol surprisingly gives off some heat, which makes this both hyper grainy AND sweetened, which is not a mellow combo you'd want in the style. Oversimplifies what makes the style great.

I enjoyed how chewy and sticky this was, and the aroma definitely was a spot-on highlight, but the extra graininess and progressive thinness made this slightly discomforting. On the other hand, it isn't a horrible session wheat choice, and I wouldn't pass the chance to have this again if I didn't feel like drinking anything too strong and craved simple, straightforward wheat beer. Not Tröegs's best, but not undrinkable by any means.
