Pours a cloudy pale yellow, rich creamy head with fantastic lacing. Smells of freshly baked bread, some clove, little banana, raw wheat. Tastes of sweet banana malt followed by some clove spiciness and moderate bitterness. Finishes quite sweet, creamy mouthfeel.

A very nice American wheat, more comparable to a hefe. Some of the traditional hefe tastes are toned back leaving a fairly clean and refreshing finish.

Dream Weaver pours a light, slightly hazy golden color with a thin white head. Minimal lacing. Smell is strongly wheat with some spiciness & a hint of banana. Taste is surprisingly peppery with wheat, yeast & banana. Mouthfeel is crisp at first & ends dry. This is a very sessionable beer. It also goes great with spicy Tex-Mex.

Pours a hazy gold with minimal head and modest carbonation.

Clove, lemon, and faint banana nose.

Taste echoes the nose with the banana becoming more pronounced. As I ponder, very reminiscent of Hoegaarden.

Mouthfeel is crisp and light, this style seems torn at times between being a Wit and/or a Hefe.

Drinkable, yes. But my initial impression remains - Witbier.

Appearance- Straw-amber color with clean white head and little lace.

Smell- Toasty malt, dry wheat, light crisp fruitiness, cracker like aromas.

Taste- Crisp dry cereal, wheat, light fruit and mild hop-bitterness. Light pale malt. Very refreshing.

Mouthfeel- Medium body, fairly creamy with good carbonation.

Drinkability- Well-balanced and refreshing, definitely could make for a great brew to drink on the deck in the summer.

This is the second bottle I've sampled from the Troegs Variety Case.

Best if enjoyed by: August 11, 2011

Enjoyed in a DFH Pint Glass

A - Pours a very hazy, mostly opaque golden color. Nice foamy, white, two finger head on the initial pour. Some lacing left on the side of the glass. Massive amounts of residue (due to being unfiltered) left on the bottle of the bottle after the pour.

S - A spicy, banana like sweetness is the dominate aroma.

T - A very refreshing beer. A nice combination of the usual flavors in a hefeweizen - a clovely spicyness, mixed with banana and a hint of lemon as well. Goes down really smooth. Alcohol taste? What alcohol!

M - Just the right amount of carbonation. A slight bitterness on the aftertaste.

O - This is a great summer beer. I normally am not a wheat beer fan but I was really impressed by this one. Very easy to drink and would be a great session beer on a hot day. I had mine after a 3 mile run and it went down really nice. Very quenching. Recommended!

Cheers!

A: A glowing, hazy yellow orange with a medium-sized, creamy white head with solid retention and some decent lacing.

S: A nice dose of yeasty esters - banana, dry pepper, and clove notes. Spicy, wheaty, fruity/citrus aromas - appealing.

T: Similar to the nose. Yeasty and spicy, especially strong clove flavors. A solid lemony hop background. Bananas, mild pepper, and some phenolic hints as well.

M: Medium-light in body, with subdued carbonation. Could stand to be a touch creamier and fuller, but it's definitely light and refreshing.

D: Very appealing and easy to drink. Full-flavored yet refreshing and tasty. Not my absolute favorite style, but this is well done.

A - pours a cloudy golden color with two fingers of white head
S - smells of golden wheat and yeast, with hints of citrus throughout
T - taste is exactly as it smells
M - has a decent amount of body for wheat beer but it thins out at the finish, good carbonation, finish is nice and wet
D - goes down so smooth you could chug it but why would you want to?

An impressive wheat beer that brings weihenstephaner to mind, although it falls short of the original of course. Had to down it fast cuz we were leaving the bar and it was still very enjoyable.

Aroma is pretty nice and typical for style, with notes of banana esters and clove dominating with some yeast there as well. Not the strongest notes for style, but definitely nice.

Pours bright golden, but it's interesting that there isn't any cloudiness. Must have been filtered.

Starts off with banana esters, though not nearly as sweet as some others in style; they're rather restrained. The clove also shows up, but again it isn't really "out there". Has a phenol character to it as well. A nice wheat note is present on the finish, as well as a citric twang.

This one won't contend with the heavy hitters out of Germany or even some of the best here, but it's quite good and delicious.

Pours a cloudy yellow color with a good sized white head. Smells abunduntly of banana, clove and some citrus. Smooth mouthfeel- great for a hefe. Good banana and fruit flavor. Wonderful interpretation of the style. Perfect for drinking a few of them on a holiday weekend! ANother fine offering from Troegs!!

Hazy and murky in appearance. Small white head on top. Big yeasty and spicy aroma-a lot of banana and clove-most I think I have seen in a US wheat. Very full of banana and clove flavors with a nice hint of black pepperyness to it. Decent body-very crisp and clean in the finish. A decent effort for sure. Once again probably my least favorite style but I think I find myself really getting used to it. I dont think I would buy it for myself but would definatley NOT turn my nose at one.

Had this beer as part of a Troegs sampler set I bought.
Poured a cloudy straw color with loads of white foam that stayed around and left some nice lacing. Aromas of wheat, grains, yeast, and hard candy seemed to come out. An excellent taste that evolves as the beer warms. An interesting and flavorful mixture of fruity sweetness, yeast, and grain texture, coating the tongue nicely. In the back of my throat, a sour taste does develop as I approach the end of my pint, that doesn't go away. The drinkability takes a hit because I have difficult having more than a few unfiltered beers.

A - Pours a hazy golden color with a mild fizzy head that disappates fairly rapidly. Not

S - Some ripe bananas, a stong caramel malty sweetness, almost no bitterness. Some twang from the banana.

T/M - Strong wheat flavor. The banana doesn't come in so strong at first, but comes out rather nicely, not too strong. A little spiciness rounds it out. Not heavy at all, doesn't leave a bad feel in your mouth. Solid.

D - Very drinkable. Good mouthfeel, mellow taste. Low alcohol.

Cloudy yellow with bright white, rocky foam. Decent head retention with a bit of lacing. Banana and lemon in the aroma, along with a bit of clove. Same in the flavour along with crackery wheat and bread. Nice texture, smooth body with lively carbonation. Great drinkability. Solid and tasty.

A: Hazy chamomile-yellow, small white head with some lacing.

S: Thick citrus along with other lighter fruits. Nose is full of wheat and bread, and some mild spices and hops.

T: Thick citrus flavor and lots of bready malts. refreshing combination of whole wheat and bread, citrus and soft hops. Fresh floral notes follow, with a long-lasting bock flavor lasts well past the drink.

M: Medium carbonation, medium body. Sticky, but levels out easy.

D: Refreshing as all Hell. Even though it's January, i can tell it's a perfect summer brew.

I have a renewed interest in this beer now. One of the last tastings I attended, I brought "Splinter Blue," the recently released, white whale that is based on this brew.

A: Poured an EXTREMELY cloudy. peppery, orange, with about a three finger head that melding into a pool of foam after a couple of minutes. Awesome retention!

S: Glorious smell of clove, German wheat, and citrus. I detect banana in this also... Imagination run wild?

T: Everything that I got on the nose, only more intense. The Saaz hop reminds me of a freshly picked and cooked corn: grainy, earthy, and very yummy! This is a very "wheaty" brew.

M: Thick enough for the style, the spices were balanced very well, and the wheat washed over the sweetness, making it organic rather than manufactured. The carbonation was spot on.

D: How the heck did Troegs pack so much taste into a wheat brew that only clocks in at 4.80%? Even if it's cold outside right now, this is good stuff!

Cloudy yellow color with very thin scim of foam left as a cap. Smell of banana and a faint pepper. Nice yeasty note as expected. Taste follows suit. Nice wheat tone up front, banana in the middle and a spicey finish. Smooth solid mouthfeel. A very flavorful beer and as expected another quality brew from Troegs.

Dream Weaver Wheat | 330 ml. | 4.8% ABV | 2010

Brewer: Tröegs Brewing Company
Style: American Pale Wheat Ale
Glass: Ommegang "Rare Vos" pint glass

Presentation:
12 oz. (330 ml.) bottle. I sort of like the bottle art. The tree on the front label reminds me of the background in one of the Beatles Rockband songs.

Appearance:
Sun-washed straw in hue, with a 1" frothy, powder white head. Good retention / decent lacing.

Aroma:
Light bananas, cloves, bubblegum, and a hefty wheat background.

Taste:
Very pleasant. The bananas and cloves come through first, backed by a mild bubblegum sweetness and a thinner than expected wheat flavor. Overall, it was quite enjoyable, but too "bubblegum" sweet for my tastes.

Mouthfeel:
Light-bodied and a bit grainy. Carbonation is perfect.

Harmony:
Very good, aside from the sweetness, which makes Dream Weaver a bit of a lightweight, it's a very solid and drinkable brew.

A- cloudy, golden/orange with a tall, white head that sticks well.

S- wheaty twang, lemony citrus and coriander.

T- lite wheat presence with a little twang to it, lemony citrus and some spice (coriander and clove).

M- smooth feel with a light carbonation.

D- very refreshing, but a little weak in the taste overall.

Twelve ounce brown bottle with no freshness dating evident

Pours hazy yellow with a fluffy collar of long-lasting foam. The bottom third of a weizen glass is virtually clear...more so than most others within this style. Nose hold much promise of clove, banana, amd other Bavarian yeasty delights. Well above average for an American wheat.

Entry is smoooth with adequate carbonation supporting the length of the tongue. Midtaste is silky wheat and much banana toward the back of the tongue. The finish leads with a short hop bite followed by a spicy finish with a mixture of cloves, nutmeg, lemon, and banana.

For an American Pale Wheat this is very well done!

Had this both in a bottle and on tap.its pours a cloudy light yellow with great head retention. The smell is typical of a wheat beer consisting of bread, banana, and spices. The taste is almost like a banana flavored bubblegum with some apparent clove lingering . Really enjoyed the taste. The carbonation was medium to high and with the clove lingering, it leaves your taste buds wanting the next sip. Well done.

Lovin' the variety pack. Lovin' the look of this brew as well. Cloudy, maize colored body with some lighter golden highlights. The head is impressive. Frothy, firm and snowy white. Wow, it really holds its shape well also. Even once it dissipates, the cap stands its ground big time. I keep peeking around my computer to the pint on the coffee table and to my surprise it's not budging a bit! Sticky, thick rings of lace hang on the glass. A very good start indeed.

Lots of spicy esters: banana, clove, coriander, and some faint soapy notes. Yeasty wheat character and some orange blossom honey. Fragrant and appetizing.

My first two impressions of this selection are balanced and drinkable. Lots of bold flavor but not overwhelming at all; kind of a hallmark of Troegs in my eyes. Flowery esters again, banana and clove. Mellow, warm spice with coriander, lemon grass, vanilla, and faint black pepper. A fluffy, light texture really helps to balance and shape the flavors. Cream of wheat comes to mind with the milky, vanilla notes.

Again billowy and light. Makes for an easy swallow and a airy texture but still remains substantial. My only issue would be that the creamy fluffiness may have taken away from a potentially crisp or refreshing character often desired in a seasonal summer wheat beer. Overall an excellently drinkable rendition. Quality is certainly to be expected from these guys.

Poured into a Hefeweizen glass, the color is a typical hazy orange gold. The white bubbly head builds about two fingers high and dissipates fast, leaving little lacing.
The smell is banana, pineapple, pear, clove and coriander.
The taste is likewise, with the fruit flavors up front, and the clove and coriander with some black pepper in the middle. A yeasty finish leave a remarkable refreshing taste in your mouth.
Good american Hefeweizen.

Appearance - Pours an extremely hazy, yellow-orange color with a centimeter thick head that dissipates instantly. Has nice lacing.

Smell - Strong aroma of coriander and maybe some clove.. Banana and pepper as well. This smells pretty spicy.

Taste - Very spicy.. Pretty much the same as the smell. Clove, coriander, peppercorns, citrus, and a hint of banana.

Mouthfeel - Medium body with medium carbonation.

Overall - I can't really handle how spicy this beer is because of my acid reflux.. but the flavor is really good. I definitely recommend it.

Had on-tap at Rattle N Hum in NYC on 11/17/11.
Review taken from notes.

This beer pours a nice golden yellow color. There is a finger of pure white head on top. The head has good retention, and leaves a nice bit of lace behind on the glass. The nose has a nice bit of banana and clove right off the bat. There is also some belgian yeast, light fruits, mild hops, and some citrus. The taste starts off with a nice bit of wheat, banana, clove, and citrus. There is a nice mild hop presence and some fruit. The finish leaves a lingering earthy hop flavor, clove, and some citrus. This has a medium body and good carbonation. It goes down easy and has a nice smooth feel to it. I it refreshing and really hits the spot. There is some earthiness as well as some tingly spice from the clove. This has really good drinkability. It is a beer I could sit down and drink all night. Overall I think it is a really nice beer, and a good example of the style. I recommend trying this one, I would buy it again.
