A - Yellow color with almost no head and very little lacing
S - Banana ester are the first thing you smell. Some spicy hop smell.
T - Sweet banana/fruity esters. Nice spicy hops but they re pretty subtle. Not very bitter and somewhat sweet. Normally this would not be very good but this malt flavor is amazing. Its tastes like there are Belgian yeast strains in here. Tastes more like a belgian blonde ale rather than a pale wheat ale. Overall a very good complex wheat beer. Not what I was expecting.
M - Decent mouthfeel. Could be less carbonated though. Light body
D - Pretty drinkable. Nice summer ale. Weirdly though it tastes more alcoholic than it actually is.

Hazy pail golden color, the kind that scary mosters crawl out of before attacking an entire town for its own nefarious purposes. Little bit of white head that clings desperately at the edge of the glass.

Banana and grapefruit, yeast and grain hit the nose as if two specific fruits and... some grain and yeast.

Quite acidic and sharp, like a cheddar lined with razors. A vague underlying dryness and the lingering taste of sweet decay remind me of the last hooker I had in my trunk... kind of a funny story really; I was so drunk that I had lost count and after I buried the two in the backseat and I ended up forgetting the one I left tied up in the trunk.

Anyway, everyonce in a while I hear a knocking sound that I had THOUGHT was the engine. Haha, turns out there was a third hooker back there, but I didn't realize it at the time.

I didn't really have money to pay for anything to get fixed so I just kept on driving. Eventually everything quieted down and I forgot all about it.

So one day I have some groceries that a bagboy brings out to my car and when open the trunk: BAM! There's the dead hooker. Terrible wafting scent comes up and blasts us in the face, the bagboy is throwing up on the ground and I am just laughing my ass off.

I hit him on the head and threw him in next to the corpse in the short skirt and buried them both in the desert.

That was a close one.

But this decay smell in the beer was more the yeasty smell than that of corpses. Hope it didn't come across like that.

Great beer, the tastes improve and become more pronounces as the bottle warms up... Wheats are lovely at room temperature.

I'd definately bring this funky little wheat places with me. Solid wheat.

Picked up a six pack to enjoy this week. Poured into a Harpoon UFO glass. With an aggressive pour, a large white head appears. Golden yellow and opaque body. Lots of surging carbonation. Huge smell of cloves in the nose. Taste was a bit of a letdown. It was a bit on the bland side. It smelled like a nice hefe, but there was no flavor of spice, banana, bubble gum, or anything I was looking forward to. Mostly tasted like a less hoppy pale ale. A bit on the thin side and low in abv, it was easy to drink, it would be a good warm weather beer. But a bit lacking in flavor, and I had hoped for more.

A-Clear pale gold with a thin white ring and extraordinarily light carbonation.

S-Lemony and grainy with a very fine hint of sweetness.

T-Sweeter than the nose and less citrusy. Nice balance, just totally the opposite of my expectations.

M-Light bodied, somewhat undercarbonated.

D-Pleasant enough for the style, but a bit bland and forgettable.

From a 12 fl. oz. bottle with a date of 040909. Sampled on July 14, 2009. The pour is a hazy orange-pale yellow with active carbonation building up to a thin white head. The aroma is full of wheat and slightly hopped. The mouthfeel is on the thinner side but not really watered down. The taste is sour and citrusy with a strong dose of wheat and dry hops at the end. Eh, nothing overly special about it. It would be an adequate relief on a hot day.

Pours a three finger white head that fades quickly leaving some lace. Cloudy amber color, ton of yeast left in bottle. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Citrus and yeast nose. Flavor is lemon and yeast. Light peppery finish. $1.95 for a 12oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, MA.

Pours a hazy yellow color with just about no head to it. The smell is of wheat with hints of lemon and some other citrus. The taste is of wheat and some lemon with a hint of clove to give it a slightly earthy taste to it. The mouthfeel is a little more carbonated than you would expect. Overall this is a good beer, it is very solid and very refreshing as well.

Serving type- 12 ounce bottle with an unclear best by date poured into a hefe glass.

I got this beer as an extra in a trade I had recently. This beer pours a bright yellow color. With the carbonation activity present after the pour this beer reminds me of a glass of champagne instead of a beer. No cling or head present after the pour. The taste is of a usual wheat beer with spices of lemon zest and bannana, nothing different or varied here. The taste follows closely with the smell. This tastes like a good representative of an American Pale Wheat beer. A little weaker than a hefe but more fruity than the American Pale Ales that I have had. This is a decent beer and was rather good considering the temperature and humidity lurking outside after the afternoon mow. This is a session beer that, if available to me on a regular basis, would make it into the summertime BBQ rotation. I can see myself easily knocking back a few of these and not feeling weighted down or even drunk. Thanks for the chance of having this beer dyan.

received this from crazymacharris in the gentleman's club bif. thanks!

pours a hazy gold into my glass. white head appears like a flash in the pan. then is gone. leaving a small dusting of lace on the top of the beer.

smell is slightly sweet and bready. big wheat presence but thats pretty much it.

taste is alright. nothing spectacular but not entirely repulsive either. lemon zest and ginger is really what i am getting off it. but i might be completely off. not bad. not great. but not bad.

this is a perfect beer for a day like today. light and refreshing. easy to drink and goes down smooth. i would take one of these out by the pool any day of the week. worth a try.

12 Oz bottle poured into pint glass.

A: Poured 1/2 the bottle... somewhat clear.. Swirled the 2nd half and poured...more cloudy and hazy now... about 1 fingers worth of head... little to no lacing.

S: Great smell here... lots of lemon peel and spice... very much like a lit hefe.

T: Very much like a light Hefe... some lemon zest and spicy... maybe a little clove.... nice on the taste buds...

M: Pretty light bodied and crisp but a little more body due o the unfiltered Wheat. Good carbonation.

D: Good summer brew. The light ABV and crisp lemony taste makes it great for the summer, go down easy ... you could down a few of these

Fit the lemony type of Hefe if you like that. A good beer for the summer. Not my fav but very good.

Growler pour from DeCicio's in Ardsley, NY. Hazed/cloudy, dull medium apricot. The head is off white, medium retention, leaves a bunch of sheeting and later fine ringlets of lace. Wheat field nose, with flourishes of bananas and sweet sugary fruits. Easy drinking wheat. More fruit notes, toasty, yeasty and quite enjoyable. Highly sessionable, pleasant summary brew. Went well with some thai shrimp and would make a nice companion to a host of salads, seafood and lighter food choices.

Poured into a pint glass.

A wonderfully colored summer beer - golden like the sun. Big flavors - big notes of citrus, spice, & bread. The only real problem with this beer is the watery mouthfeel. There is no real body, but the flavors are strong, so its OK. Another great thing about this beer is the ABV is under 5%, which makes this a solid choice for session drinking. Highly recommended.

Close to nonexistent head, ipso facto no lacing. Super-cloudy yellow straw color, were it not so dense it might show some brightness. Clean, unadorned nose of wheat, straw, wild grasses and white grapefruit pith, has a bracing sourness to it that does not have a negative impact on enjoyment, soft clove, nutmeg spice and a whiff of apricot, peach pit. Medium-bodied, dense carbonation keeps it hovering in the middle, not really lifting, not really anchored. Fluffy clove, sort of ginger, spice. Whipped up lemon and white grapefruit infusion, here you get a steady lowkey yeastiness, creates a sticky softness in the palate. Has a light bark woodiness too. The apple, apricot, pear fruit a minor part of the whole, keeps swirling through the end, as a result not very clean, the mild churn keeps flavors ebbing and flowing. On the whole dry, but not parching. Easy enough to drink and a few notches above just the basics.

A - Very clear golden color...I thought this was unfiltered...a white fluffy head that disappears rather quickly...leaves some lacing

S - Not a very strong nose...some banana and spices

T - The banana flavor is not as big as I would expect...there are other flavors that are standing out more...lots of caramel sweetness mixed with the candied sugar sweetness...these make the beer a little sweet...the cloves and peppery bite provide a nice crisp finish

M - Light to medium bodied...more on the lighter side

D - The mouthfeel really leads to a nice drinkability since it's rather light...the low ABV also leads to a nice drinkability...the taste can go either way

This was basic. I expected a bit more from the Troegs but it's still a solid offering.

Appearance was a tad dark and cloudy

Smell: Had some clove and banana but once again, basic.

Taste: Mild and refreshing. Delicious to half slam in the hot sun or sip at the picnic table. Good general purpose summer beer.

The mouthfeel was fizzy and light with a good drinkability.

This beer poured from the bottle to reveal a nice lemon and clove aroma. The color was typical wheat hazy and yellow. There was a nice mild citrus taste and a very nice mouthfeel with a good body for a wheat. The taste did start to get a little thick on the tongue in the finish.

It's a servicable wheat beer, but nothing to write home about. It has a fruity flavor characteristic of like hefes but the flavor doesn't last past the initial swallow.

Appearance: dark golden color

Smell: Hints of fruit, slight smoke; not very robust

Taste: Slight banana, nothing really sticks out

Mouthfeel: Light, smooth

Drinkability: Drinkable; average wheat beer

Got this bottle from jlb307 in a recent trade. Thanks!

Poured into my weizen glass a very clear yellow with a good-sized white head on top. Little retention and some spotty lacing, but not much. Smells of bananas, candy, and slight citrus.

Mouthfeel was a little wet and slick. Flavors were of bubble gum, sweet bananas, breads, and orange rind. This was a decent Wheat Ale. Very refreshing on this very hot day.

Pours a cloudy pale yellow, rich creamy head with fantastic lacing. Smells of freshly baked bread, some clove, little banana, raw wheat. Tastes of sweet banana malt followed by some clove spiciness and moderate bitterness. Finishes quite sweet, creamy mouthfeel.

A very nice American wheat, more comparable to a hefe. Some of the traditional hefe tastes are toned back leaving a fairly clean and refreshing finish.

A - One fingers worth of lively fizzy white head quickly fades to leave a full lacing... A decent amount of fast paced carbonation rises through out... An orange honey color with a slight haze...

S - Sweet lemon... Yeast... A strong spiciness dominate by clove is quite evident... A floral muskiness... Banana... Candied sugars... A wonderful aroma...

T - Sweet lemon... Mango... Strong yeasty presence... Banana... Clove... Candied sugar... Very sweet...

M - The carbonation is a tad on the heavy side, but it works for this beer... Light to medium bodied... Slightly syrupy...

D - Another very solid offering from Troegs... A wonderfully sessionable that is irresistibly sweet, but not in the malty sort of way... Tremendously refreshing...

live review 5/31. 12 oz bottle poured into a shaker pint.
Very hazy pale blond colored body with several active columns of rising gas visible. Unique and giving me a sense that this Trogner brother creation has hit the primordial nail on the head for a beer to enjoy on a lazy Sunday.

I go in for a smell. Ask and you shall receive a burst of yeasty ripe banana, lemon zest, spicy clove and a bit of flowery hop and wheat grain to round the nose out. Warming, pleasant, spot on.

Taste is lemony and light up front. A superb presence of carbonation gives way to yeasty middle helped along by some pale malt, which hangs on but fades while a prominent noble hop appears and bites on the back of the tongue. As expected, finishes dry, crisp and refreshing. Mild citrus and lemon rind are there as well, which yield a bright, almost DMS aftertaste, the lowpoint of this drink. It's effect is cumulative on the throat, leaving a coating that takes away from the other refreshing characteristics of the beer. Otherwise an enjoyable beer.

Pours a macro yellow, with a faint head that quickly leaves just a skim. Slightly hazed.

Smell is of candi sugars, lemon oil, maybe overripe banana, some pepper.

Taste is banana bread, grain and all, sweetness is there as well, slight pepper, less than in the nose. Definate chlorophyll, and the hop subtlties mellow the malt background.

Feel is grreat, as is drinkability, overall a winner, could be more complex but a very solid brew.

A nice warm day wheat (now that there are some warm days!).
A fine medium-bodied, tasty, clean & refreshing hefe. Nothing too special or complex, just a good dead-on serviceable brew. It pours a decent pale yellow to gold, with 1/2 finger of white head & some decent lace that sticks. A good basic hefe aroma with lemon & banana hints. The flavor melds yeasty malts & hop pretty well and leaves no heavy citrus which is nice. I'd definitely pick up another 6-pack; I just don't go for the name, oh well...to be so picky!

This brew came in the mix pack from Troegs, I am so happy that they are now in NY. Brew poured to a light yellow/golden color, quite cloudy with a nice sized white head that had some retention. The aroma here is nice and refreshing, yeast esters come out quickly giving off a nice pepper spice scent. That scent could also be enhanced by the Saaz haps that are in there? Also hops seem to give a slight lemon citrus scent. The flavors are also quite nice, have a nice spicy and clove flavor, seem very crisp. The end seems to have a slight banana flavor as well. With this brew being categorized as a American Wheat, for me it seems to be slightly more like a German wheat beer, though the malt profile does seem to be more like an American wheat as it is missing some of the heavy bread like characteristics. Overall this is a good brew, very fresh and crisp feel and nice flavors. Another solid brew from Troegs.
