Pours a clear pale gold with a thicker cap of sticky white head that leaves nice lacing. The aroma is lighter, but has nice grass and earthy hops up-front with a subtle biscuit note. The taste is good, but much more hop-forward at first, favoring the noble hops more than the malt. This balances out a little over time. The body is a little thicker, but not heavy, and there's a nice steady carbonation to it

L: extremely clear, straw color, 1 finger head, well carbonated
N: very crisp and distinctive straw notes, light lemon pepper, some dry floral hop finish
T: extremely crisp, dry, light hop presence, smooth
B: light, crisp, carbonated body

Without a doubt my go to summer pils and love that this is now available in cans.

Clear straw color. A foamy, pillowy head dissipates to a thin, translucent cap. Typical pilsner taste up front with a hint of lemon and peppery noble hops. Afterward, a bold hop snap explodes. This is where SP transcends the typical pilsner. (Without offending the style). It leaves an oily, resinous taste on the tongue. Great American interpretation. This beer is bold, dynamic, and refreshing. Will buy again soon.

L - Very opaque goldish-yellow color; similar to that of champagne. Great head and good retention.
S - Smells of hops with faint floral aroma.
T - Not too complex, straightforward and enjoyable bitterness of hops.
F - Very light feeling beer. Little carbonation, can't really note.
O - Great choice for a light summer beer. Very drinkable and pairs well with most food flavors.

Been drinking a fair amount of pilsener lately and this is yet another good one. Pretty much what you would expect for the style, maybe a bit more hoppy than I prefer, but overall a very good beer.

I had this on draft. One of the best pilsners I have ever had. A little more hoppy than the traditional pilsner , but excellent.

Very nice hopped pils, with a good malt back. Smooth, not fizzy. Poured a golden yellow with a nice 1 inch head that stays, creamy feel and look. Very nice. No European malt flavor. American made and tastes. Too bad the big boys can't brew one like this.

Excellent craft American pilsner. Light, lemony, perfectly balanced, and uber drinkable. I find a beer of this sort
more enjoyable than the craze of session IPAs out there, and I am a devoted hophead....

A: Sunshine in a glass: pale yellow color, with a short white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace. A bit sudsier than other pilsners. 3.3

S: Pilsner aroma of light malts and bright, grassy hops. Kind of plain. 3.3

T: Taste is bready w light flavors of malty grain, layers w hop bitterness. The after-taste is slightly soapy, bready and slightly bitter. 3.3

M: Smooth and very crisp, light-to-medium body, medium-to-high carbonation, finish is too sudsy/soapy for me. 3

OK at best, odd soapy quality. Like my pilsners razor clean.

A- Hazy Yellow with a nice effervesence.
S- slightly floral
T- rich and smooth, very bright and crisp flavor. Perfect back porch beer.
P- Pairs best with a bleak, violent, desaturated atmosphere like Takashi Miike's OldBoy. Contrasts Dae-Suh's hopelessness nicely.

Canned on 4/25/14. 12oz can poured into a pint glass. Pours a transparent pale yellow with a huge fluffy eggshell white head that eventually falls leaving nice retention and solid lacing. The aromas are full of corn and malts. Some pear and green apple in the mix, but it's very subtle. Flavors are clean and crisp. This stays pretty true to the style and doesn't try to be flashy or anything unique. There's not much of a hop presence going on, which is okay. There's a very subtle spiciness, and I mean subtle. Malts are there, but seem to take a backseat. Mouthfeel is great. It's light and crisp with a nice creaminess to it. It's slightly fluffy and very smooth. This is perfect for the hot weather.

This is a nice pilsener. It's extremely easy to drink and is something you can toss back all day in the summer. It's refreshing and thirst quenching. It's pretty standard for the style, but it's well crafted.

Bottled awhile ago, 4/16. Poured 7/31.

Appearance: Pours a very pale yellow color, true to the style. Soapy white head floats on top with a good amount of lacing, and tons of carbonation streaming up from my laser etched glass.

Smell: Still smells fresh. Hay, wheat-like aroma, pale malts, and a slight hoppy note as well. Like many in the style, simple, light, but pleasant.

Taste/feel: Talk about a refreshing beer. Light on flavor, maybe even so for the style, but what's there is super tasty. No corny sort of flavor that sometimes comes through for me in the style, just crisp as hell.... and I hate the word "crisp." Light biscuit malt character with hay and a liiiittle bit of hops. Mmm, a fantastic summer beer. The feel is also awesome.. Super drinkable with what initially seemed like a thin body, but it's not quite watery. Solid carbonation, on-point for the style.

I've been drinking loads of crap like Leinenkugel Summer Shandy, Labatt Blue, and even -- gulp -- Bud Light recently, so this hit the proverbial spot, and I'm probably overrating this a bit because of that fact.

A - Pours beautifully, with a couple fingers of sudsy head and reall nice lacing. Straw gold and clear as can be.

S - smells like not much really. Sort of a musty generic lager smell with a little honey sweetness.

T - Tastes musty for a split second, but instantly turns crisp and snappy, with nice lemon zing. There's some hay in the middle and pepper and grass on the finish, all in a very cohesive and subtle fashion. Maybe a tad on the sweet side for a pilsner.

M - mouthfeel is nice because it lingers on the palate much longer than you would expect, with some honey-like heft. A little chalky around the edges.

Overall, nicely structured and refreshing. I could drink this all day, though I wish it was a tad dryer.

No visit to Pinocchio's in Media is wasted when it comes to The CANQuest (TM)! CANs of every stripe seemed to line their shelves, including this one, which is fitting since I first had this beer at the Iron Hill (Media) Brandywine Valey Brewers' Festival many years ago.

From the CAN: "Crisp. Hoppy. Pilsner."

I miss the anthropomorphized sun, beating down with an angry look on his face, but the Crack! took place in his absence. An inverted Glug was next and we were off and running. It quickly settled into two fingers of dense, bone-white head with very good retention and I suddenly felt nostalgic for our salad days together in Harrisburg. Color was a fittingly beautiful sunshine yellow (SRM = > 2, < 4) with NE-quality clarity. The nose was redolent with grassy Noble hops underlain what smelled like lemon zest. The Trogner brothers have been tight-lipped as to the lemony quality of this beer since its inception, but that is what makes it stand out in a crowd. I CAN identify it blindfolded, if need be. Wonderfully sticky lacing formed as I typed and so it was time for a sip. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium and as always, it was the best iteration of the style that I know. It CANtains a biscuity maltiness, a grassy hoppiness and the characteristic lemoniness that makes it unique, IMHO. It makes me want to swoon in delight. Finish was crisp and dry, but not gaspingly so. It is a great summer beer and I am elated to see that they have begun putting it in CANs!

My original, on-tap review dtd 05 Mai 2008, scores 5; 4.5; 4.5;4.5; 5 follows:

It was Lager Sunday, boys & girls! I was out to Sly Fox (PHXville) for goat racing and bocks of every stripe. Upon returning home, it was more lager-style beers at my local (Brendee's Cafe - N. Mary & W. Lemon Sts., LNC, PA).

It arrived with a foamy, bone-white head with low retention. The color was a lemon-yellow with NE-plus quality clarity (truly bright). The nose had a light lemon-citrus scent. It looked and smelled like summer. The mouthfeel was medium with a definite Saaz hops bite on the tongue. It must be nice to have access to the good hops during a time of drought. The finish was refreshingly dry. Yummy!

I have to give props to Sly Fox Pikeland Pils; Victory Prima Pils (Silver); as well as Stoudt's Pils, but if you like Pils, Troegs ain't no slouch, baby.

Look: I'm drinking this straight from the bottle. I can't really say much about the apperance.

Smell: Meh. Smell like what I remember smelling/tasting beer for the first time as a kid.

Taste: Same as the smell. I don't find this to be all that great. It's drinkable, but it's just my style.

Mouthfeel: Very light bodied. Decent carbonation and thirst quenching.

Overall: I probably won't drink this again. I can't say this beer is Bad, but it's not something I'd really like to drink. Given to me, I'll drink it, but I'll likely never pay for it again. Troegs beers with me are hit or miss. Some I love, some I really dislike.
