The pour reveals a rich looking, red-brown brew, that is entirely translucent with very little visible carbonation. The quickly dissipating head is half a finger high, with a tan tinge. Notes of sweet, overly browned bananas, caramel, soy sauce, and malts, shine through the aroma. The sip kicks off with a flash of sweetness, while the remainder of the profile is otherwise dominated by malts and a bitter hops competing for the front seat. There are also hints of ripe fruits, and even a bit of the soy sauce from the nose. We are left refreshed, despite the medium to full body and the drying bitterness of the flavors. Due to that complexity, heaviness, and the appropriately ample abv, it takes some time to get to the bottom of your glass.
Overall, this one was a bit of a challenge when it came to identifying all of the flavors. What surprised us about this brew was the vibrant red coloring, and the overt hoppiness to the beer's final taste. This is certainly a unique doppel.
