Monks had fasting figured out. No food? No problem. Just drink a Double Bock. Thick and chewy with intense notes of caramel, chocolate and dried stone fruit, ‘Nator (as we call him) serves as a tribute to this liquid bread style.

Glass: Ayinger bock glass
A solid doppelbock, Troegenator hits all the right notes: heavy caramel, toasted bread and nuts, and pounds of dried fruit. Its only flaw may be a slightly excessive sweetness, but this is easily looked past for the style. Satisfying, rich, and hearty, this is an excellent beer for a crisp spring, fall, or winter day (or summer, as the unusual July weather may have it). Would definitely get again if this were locally available.
Pours a 1.5cm head of beige to light tan-colored foam, with average retention of about one minute. The head fades to a thick ring around the glass and a few large islands of thin foam/film atop the body of the beer, nearly creating an entire cap (about 90% there). Lacing is minimal to nonexistent, a few dots cling to the sides of the glass. Beer is a very dark amber to mahogany hue, with light bringing out brighter shades of amber reddish-brown. Carbonation is visible through the transparent body, moderate in number
Aroma is quite sweet, of rich brown bread with sweet caramel sauce and dried fruits, particularly dried dates, figs, and raisins.
Overall flavor is of toasted bread with caramel sauce and plenty of toasted nuts and dried dates/figs. Front of palate is quite sweet, with brown sugar and caramel, toasted bread crusts, and slight toasted nuttiness. Mid-palate finds plenty of brown sugar, raisins, dried dates, and brown figs, toasted hazelnuts and almonds, and a rich brown bread with hearty caramelized sugars. Back of palate picks up toasted bread crusts with caramelized sugars, dried dates and brown figs, and very slight ethanol. Aftertaste of brown sugar and caramel with rich, toasted bread crust undertones.
Beer is medium to medium-heavy bodied, with carbonation of medium-low intensity, resulting in a mouthfeel that is lightly foamy and fairly thick and chewy. Little to no ethanol felt in the nostrils or on the throat. Closes semi-dry, with substantial stickiness lingering on the lips and palate, typical for the style.

Thin head, no lacing to speak of. Nose is caramel malt and stone fruit, taste follows. Medium mouth feel, smooth and creamy. Consistent and delicious, just sweet enough!

Not too bitter, maybe a little sweet, lots of fig/date vibes, very enjoyable. Deep brown, amber color, minimal head, if fog newtons were a beer... Nice to sip while reading, not very distracting, but like oh, hi, right, you taste good.

Good malt flavor. Not too sweet. Holds it's own against it's German competition. One of my go to Doppelbocks. Great beer overall.

Pours reddish-brown. Clear. Small head turns to a ring. No lacing. The nose is beautiful - sweet, fruity, like a Belgian ale. Taste follows with caramel and dates. Medium body, low carbonation. Fantastic - one of very few brews that I keep going back to.

Poured into a Celebrator pokal. Pours a medium to dark reddish orange with a quarter finger light khaki head that dissipates to a thin cap with light lacing. Aroma of biscuit malt, dates, dry caramel and vanilla, interesting. Flavor is biscuit and dry caramel malt, dates, pumpernickel bread, toffee, raisins and a hint of vanilla; finishes drier with a mild hop bitterness. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A pleasant doppelbock that finishes a little drier than the continental ones. The basic malt is classic doppelbock, perhaps a bit less sweet and an interesting rye-like drier finish. I'm glad to have such a pleasant introduction to this legendary brewery. Wish there were more doppelbocks on the market.

Malty background yes, but not overwhelmingly so. Forward sweetness. Not recommended on an empty stomach.
