Troegenator opens rich and malty, huge notes of baking bread and yeasty dough rising immediately, joined by toast crust and biscuit. Heavy dollops of brown sugar, caramel, molasses, and chocolate add a sugary kick, and orange, fig, prune, and berry fruit esters add complexity to the sweetness. A light grapefruit and pine presence tells of a good hop counter. The aromas do fade after a bit, but enough are still left to be enticing. As a whole, the initial aromas in here are excellent, begging to be savored, and are present in good enough strength, complexity, and balance to suggest a well-made brew.
On the tongue, the beer opens with a sugar blast, orange, berry, prune, fig, and white grape notes dancing across the tongue, joined by brown sugar, caramel, and molasses. The super-sweetness is balanced mildly by some touches of kola nut and toasted pecan, as well as toast crust and biscuit, and a light grapefruit and pine hop counter. But sugars are by far the dominant flavor, continuing throughout the mouthful and even into the aftertaste, which, while presenting a stronger bread note, still contains excellent fruit and berry sugars, as well as a slightly larger bitter hop presence. Mouthfeel is a smooth, syrupy medium, and carbonation is medium.
Overall, this is an excellent double bock, full of fantastic sugar, fruit, and bread notes. If cereal tasted this good, I doubt I’d ever eat anything else. There is a slight alcohol vapor in the aftertaste--the only place I could detect the 8.2% ABV in distracting strength--but otherwise this is a great brew. Worth trying.

A - one inch creamy, off-white head, very deep red coloring, mahogany, beautiful
S - alcohol, toffee, molasses, caramel, lots of malt, faint apples
T - roasted/toasted grains, malt, lots of caramel, can taste the alcohol but in a good way, sweet but has nice balancing with the ever faint hops in the background
M - creamy, dry, full bodied
O - This is a fantastic beer. From the appearance to the aroma to the taste - delicious, Beautiful coloring, the taste and smell of the malt and the caramel is great. I would recommend this beer to anyone regardless of their taste preferences.
