12oz bottle at Stuff Yer Face poured into Optimator glass. This is the most disappointing Troegs beer to date.
That being said, almost like calling Gisele the most unattractive supermodel. They are constantly blowing me away with the beers, and this one is just so-so.
Bottle Graphics: 5/10.
A; Very dark red, bordering on brown with a film of a head that hung solid. Pretty high degree of clarity for a double bock.
S; Dried fig sweetness. There is an underlying coriander scent behind the typical fruitcake aromas of the style. Looking for a touch of bitterness but never came out.
T: On the unblanced side, a bit too sweet. For a Troegs brew, I can not find the hopped up aspect that I expected to dial in to. Has the maple syrup taste of the smell your car gets when you know that something is shot.
M: Pretty full bodied, short sweet finish. No feeling from the alcohol. I say for more than one beer, but I could never pen this for being above 8%.
D: Hardest Troegs beer I have had to finish. I would not pass it up if handed to me but I will not be ordering anytime soon. Onwards and upwards back to their hoppy stuff.

Pours light and translucent with a nice head. Smells bready, bocky, and surprisingly alcoholic, even for its style.
Tastes quite intense. Aggressive bread starts thing off, followed by an strong bock-malt push that's equal parts astringent and zippy. Gets sweet again near the middle and ends dry with a long, lingering sourness on the back of your tongue.
Good, but it takes a few sips to get used to. I've had a few other d-bocks lately, but they've been the hyper-smooth big boys (Celebrator and Optimator), and I'm not used to one that's as rough around the edges as this.
