Thanks to CaptinRedBeard for this generous extra.
Pours a warm, amber brown, producing a finger of very light tan head. This fades slowly, and leaves some lacing down the side of the glass.
The aroma is a nice balance of sweet malt and floral hops. I smell caramel and toffee, some breadiness, dark fruit, and a bit of citrus.
Sweet caramel hits the tongue first, along with some fruit. Hops come through in the back end, along with a bit of alcohol warmth, and the flavors linger quite a while in the mouth.
Medium to full-bodied, and a bit sticky, the mouthfeel here is just fine.
Very nice barleywine overall, and one I would gladly have again. Quite drinkable as well, considering the abv.
