Had this on 2012-05-04 In Columbia, PA from a very fresh 2012 bottle. Had this again on 2013-12-23 from this same 2012 batch.
A - Lightly hazy, ruby-brown with a 2.0 finger light tan head and very nice ringed lacing. Other than the head on this being 1/2-finger more than on-tap, I didn't distinguish any difference between having it fresh from the bottle and fresh on-tap.
S - Rasins, grape skin, black currants, some caramel. Light but pleasant.
T - Initially sweet roasted grain, raisins, concord grapes, light touch of chocolate and pine, caramel and lots of grapefruit zest bitterness. Plenty of IBUs here that continue long into the aftertaste only partially balanced by sweet fruit and malt remnants.
M - Medium body and light-medium carbonation. Somewhat syrupy, resinous and prickly.
O - Quite nice. A different take on a barleywine. I get a passing reference to an amped up Nugget Nectar. It's also somewhat like a Sierra Nevada Bigfoot but without as much pine and citrus. I like it.
Notes: When I tasted it again with 18 months of age on it, the bitterness had mellowed somewhat and if anything, tasted a little better for being more IBU mellow.
