Oh the Flying Mouflan...I've had this one so many times over the years in just about every format it comes in. Definitely a beer I enjoy and I'm glad to finally get around to doing a review for it. Growler purchased at Cable Beverage.
Appearance: Pours an attractive red tinged caramel with a 2 finger light khaki crown that displays some retention and nice lace.
Smell: Caramel malt, an english yeast like fruitiness and some nice noble hop type spiciness.
Taste: Same as the nose but more pungent and with some additional citrus hops. The malt profile is just fantastic on this one. Lots of red fruits covered in burnt sugar, toffee, and caramel. Decently stiff hop bittering and a whisper of alcohol presence.
Mouthfeel: Thick side of medium bodied with nice carbonation.
Overall: A well constructed and tasty barley wine that I always look forward to drinking!
Serving type: growler
