A cloudy dark brown color. Pours with a full inch of thick, rich, cream colored head. Little or no lacing.
Smells sweet with strong hints of fruit. Definitely a bit of honeydew. Malty. I'm not getting any of the hops here.
Starts off pretty sweet and evolves into a very malty beer. Ends with a moderate bitter finish, which lingers in the mouth for a few seconds. I'm a little disappointed with the lack of complexity here. It's a little sweeter than I've encountered with other barley beers, which may actually be a positive trait.
The beer has excellent body and texture. The carbonation is a little weak, but not disappointing.
Overall, this is a great beer for this particular style. I personally don't see myself buying this again, but that's only because this is not to my taste. Otherwise a great beer.
Overall grade: B+
