On tap at River Brew poured into a snifter. The waitress tried to pass this off as a DIPA so I'm not sure how long it has been kegged.
Dark amber with some orange highlights and a fine tan head.
Nose has everything you would expect from an American Barleywine. A heavy hand of strong citrusy hops backed up with caramel malts. Some candied fruits come through and there is a granny smith ester that bites. Clean yeast character and there is some tobacco, tea and vanilla that comes through in the finish.
A fine example of an American Barleywine. The bitterness was there all along and a great malt bill without too much cloyingly sweet caramel malts makes this very drinkable.
Serving type: on-tap
