12 oz. bottle poured into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass.
Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy straw-gold color with a one inch fluffy white head.
Smell: Heavy on the pine and floral hops with pleasant spicy notes. No real malt presence in the nose other than a very slight toasted aroma. Smells nice, but definitely not as intense as the top-tier IPA's out there.
Taste: Similar to the smell. A lot of pine and floral hop flavors with a little bit of herbal character. Still virtually no malt presence. Bittering hops kick in on the finish. No alcohol presence. Very crisp and clean flavor-wise, but not quite as potent on the hop flavor as some.
Mouthfeel: Crisp with a nice bittering-hop bite on the finish. Medium-bodied with a fairly high carbonation level.
Overall: A very solid IPA, but lacks the punch of the best examples of the style.

Pours crystal clear and very pale gold with medium to small head. Nice lacing. Smell is big lemon and grapefruit citrus hops. Taste is much the same as the smell up front and through the finish. Very rarely have I had a beer so consistent from the smell through the finish. And in this case it's consistently citrus hops. Actually though it ends up being a bit one-note, even if that note is good. Full bodied. Fairly drinkable and a really solid IPA throughout.

I had the Perpetual IPA on tap at the Sharp Edge in Pittsburgh.
It was served in a pilsner style glass; the beer is deep gold with slight chill haze. It has a sticky off white head and lace.
It has an aroma of pine sap and something sweet like a slow poke
The taste is a nice mix of pine and citrus. Lots of caramel malts and a bit of something like taste of honey candy bar
The mouth is coating and slick
I like how this one is put together. My first beer from this venerable brewer & I look forward to having more.
