Perpetual IPA opens with a bright citrusy shock of hops, with lemon, dandelion stem, grapefruit rind, and pink grapefruit dominating the profile, followed closely by mint and rose hips. Below the hops is a pleasant malt base that leans heavily on sugars, brown sugar mixing well with an assortment of fruit esters, including orange, nectarine, and berry. Added to this is a good measure of rising bread dough and biscuit, with just a touch of wet wheat. As a whole the nose is good, with plenty of hops and crystallized sugar aromas, and seems balanced and diverse for an IPA. It doesn’t necessarily bring anything new or remarkable to the table, but it does present itself solidly.
On the tongue, the beer begins with hops, bursting onto the tongue with grapefruit rind, pine resin, lemon, eucalyptus, mint, pink grapefruit, and dandelion stem goodness, providing an immediate glimpse into an IPA that has been crafted by careful selection of ingredients by people who really know what they’re doing. The hoppy 85 IBU bitterness bites at the tongue and soft palate, largely dominating the flavor profile. But a good measure of sugars and malts comes through, bringing rising dough and biscuit, along with berry, orange, nectarine, and a touch of toasted nut. Late in the mouthful, as the sugars die off, the bitterness of the hops becomes even more pronounced, and the dandelion stem, pine resin, and grapefruit rind flavors occupy the vast majority of the profile, and continue this domination into the aftertaste, which lingers on the tongue for a long time, joined by toast crust and biscuit. Mouthfeel is medium, and carbonation is medium to medium-high, adding to the burning sensation.
Overall, this is a solid IPA, and while the nose isn’t necessarily remarkable, the flavors on the tongue do an excellent job of showcasing what is possible with hops, experience, and patience. A must-try for serious hopheads.

Pours crystal clear and very pale gold with medium to small head. Nice lacing. Smell is big lemon and grapefruit citrus hops. Taste is much the same as the smell up front and through the finish. Very rarely have I had a beer so consistent from the smell through the finish. And in this case it's consistently citrus hops. Actually though it ends up being a bit one-note, even if that note is good. Full bodied. Fairly drinkable and a really solid IPA throughout.

I had the Perpetual IPA on tap at the Sharp Edge in Pittsburgh.
It was served in a pilsner style glass; the beer is deep gold with slight chill haze. It has a sticky off white head and lace.
It has an aroma of pine sap and something sweet like a slow poke
The taste is a nice mix of pine and citrus. Lots of caramel malts and a bit of something like taste of honey candy bar
The mouth is coating and slick
I like how this one is put together. My first beer from this venerable brewer & I look forward to having more.
