This beer pours a slightly hazy golden orange color with a 3 finger fluffy white head. Retention is very good and there are many thick hanging sheets of lacing. Smell is pine, citrus and sweet bready malt. Taste is the same. Decent amount of bitterness, but still quite balanced. Feel is medium and resinous. Overall very solid, but not great.

This is a pretty ordinary and standard IPA. Doesn't seem much like a double IPA for sure. Rather malt forward with some hop presence but no exciting character. nb

Amber in color with a quarter inch of off white head on top. Light lacing is present. The aroma is an enticing citrus hop note with plenty of light malt to balance things out. The taste is very much a blend of piney and citrus hops. The mouth is light, crisp, and dry.

12oz bottle poured into a table glass. Pours a crystal clear, straw yellow with a quickly receding 2 finger white head. Nose is malt-forward - almost more lagery than ipa-y. Palate is bitter hops with a not insubstantial malty aftertaste. The beer almost tastes a touch watery - double IPA is definitely a reach for this one. The mouthfeel is relatively thin. Overall, nothing to write home about. A thorough drinkable, if uninspired not-quite-DIPA.

This is one of the few IPA's classified as "Imperial" that possesses none of the aggressive, forward character of that style. The LOOK is almost deceivingly benign: clear and bright, with no hint of the weight of the typical Imperial. The NOSE is full of pine with a hint of orange and a sweetness (maybe malt?) as well. The TASTE is exceedingly balanced, with layers of hops (of course), herbs, some fruit and a lingering, dry finish that does not threaten to overload the back of your tongue or your salivary glands. The FEEL is clean. OVERALL, even though it clocks in at a massive 85 IBU, it has none of the offending elements of many Imperials. I'm enjoying it tonight, in the 12 oz. bottle, with the new label (freshness date is "05/01/16") and it is also one of the most non-fatiguing Imperials I've ever had. Highly recommended.

Look: Pours a clean, clear, golden-amber with a two-finger white head which after dissipating leaves a thick ring for lacing around the glass.

Aroma: Floral, grassy hops with sweet malt. Also getting some pine and orange notes.

Taste: Definitely a pine heavy IPA, but in a good way. My expectation was that it would be more bitter, but the immediate pine resin yields to a somewhat sticky, sweet finish.

Feel: Light body and sticky mouthfeel. Has me feeling like I bit off a chunk of Eastern Hemlock (PA's state tree). Great hoppy bitterness lingers through to the end and beyond.

12 oz bottle.

Deep gold with great clarity and a white head. Strong citrus and pine in the aroma with very little malt at all. Even for an IPA, the balance in the flavor is poor. Loads of pine cause for a sticky and resinous mouthfeel, which is not very enjoyable. The hops are too harsh and make it difficult to have more than one.

Look: light gold with a cooper tint; absolutely transparent. Pours with almost no head; just a thick layer of white foam that dies down quickly leaving some remnants of foam on the surface of the beer. Medium-sized bubbles noticeable. Looks like a decent quality commercial beer. Nothing special.

Smell: Grain, malt and some hops.

Taste: Grain to start, some citrus (lemon, grapefruit), very mild hoppy finish with a slight bitter end. Mild but nice flavor.

Feel: Thinner-side of medium. Smooth velvety feel. Slight tingle from the carbonation. Mild dry finish without being too dry.

Overall: Decent IPA. Lighter body than many; so not heavy. Mild flavor. Would accompany Italian food nicely.

Yellow appearance, almost an inch of white head. Matching a might as well be imperial ipa with this yellow color can lead to some great/disastrous results. Aroma was not hoppy, thought it was gonna be.

Lots of bitterness, not a lot of hop flavor. Prickly carbonation whisks it all away, or at least tries to. Just can't understand the love for this one.

Look-It pours the most beautiful clear golden yellow like the light of a thousand suns glinting off a gold mine the size of a supermassive black hole. The clarity is stunning. The head is foamy white like egg white beaten half to hell and leave little to no lacing as the head is moist and delicious.

Smell-It smells like hops such as the bravo, chinook, mount hood, nugget, citra, and cascade hops that they use in this beauty. I smell some citrus hops from the citra and some dank grassy hops from the mount hood and nugget hops. The malts are bright and are similar to honey and grainy malts.

Taste-I taste some tropical fruits like papaya and passion fruit and some floral hops a bit, but a lot of citrus like orange rind and some tangerine citrus hops. There are some piney and earthy hop flavors in there, too. The malts take backstage, but are present. The alcohol content is 7.5% ABV and is noticeable.

Mouthfeel-It is medium bodied I would say and the feel is fizzy from the carbonation, sharp from the hops and alcohol, and smooth from the overall construction and malts. The hops leave a nice layer of hop oils afterwards.

Overall-I would say that this is a great beer. I was impressed with this Troegs IPA. Cheers!

Golden, clear.. can see thru. Im used to unfiltered so this is odd to me.

Scents of malt, floral hops, maybe some pine.
Tastes... good bitterness and slight malt, rock candy, piney hops and there is something earthy to it as well. Thick mouthfeel.

This is great stuff.

nose is citrus, pine, some floral and grassy notes. taste is mostly piney, this beer delivers a nice bitterness. although this is definitely a good ipa, im more into the ones that hit the nose and palate w heavy citrus character, which i felt was a bit lacking in this beer. still, nice beer that is refreshing with a nice piney bitterness.

Look: It pours a golden color with tinges of orange and a large, off white head.

Smell: There is a huge aroma of grapefruit with floral and pine elements.

Taste: It has flavors of grapefruit, citrus, floral, and pine.

Feel: It is on the lite side of moderate for the fell and the bittering effect on the palate lasts a long time.

Overall: Perpetual IPA is well hopped with a typically powerful long last bitter punch on the palate. The aroma for this particular brew is one of the better ones out there.

Just a standard IPA from Troegs. My bottle might be old as I feel like I've had better experiences. Color is a nice light amber with just a little bit of head. Nothing too noticeable on the nose; smells faintly of hops but not much else. Despite a 7.5% ABV, it tastes more like a pale ale than an IPA. Would've liked a standout note but it all blends to a vague "ale" taste. I'll have to revisit this again but I prefer other Troegs IPAs to this.

12oz bottle poured into tulip glass:

Look: Pour a nice golden color with about an inch of head and lacing present.

Smell: Citrus, pine, grapefruity.

Taste: Hints of citrus and pine but not as hoppy as I was expecting and I feel let down with this one. Might be a bad bottle as this brew has a slight skunk taste to it.

Feel: Medium bodied.

Overall: This beer kinda let me down a bit compared to all the other brews I have had from Troegs. I think I may have had a bad bottle as it has a slight skunk taste to it. This is probably my least favorite beer to date from Troegs.

Pours a bright yellow gold with a creamy white foam head. Smells like buttery pears, faint pineapple, and honey grains. The taste is slightly bitter and hoppy with honey, pineapple, lemon, and bready malts. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Creamy and smooth. Overall a delicious and bittersweet IPA.

Look: Pale, hazy yellow. With a bit of head.

Smell: Bitter sweet. Lot of orange peel, with a blend of pine needles. lot of citrus with a good hop aroma.

Taste: Much more bitter than there is sweet in the flavor. But it is very crisp, and refreshing.

Feel: Medium feel, medium carbonation. nice for an IPA.

Appearance: pours a orangish yellow hue. a finger or just more of a white head. good retention and leaving behind a decent lacing. crystal clear and strong brightness.

Smell: piney and some fruity hops. hinting towards tropical. sweet malts ranging from bready to crystal sweetness.

Taste: opens with a mix of sweet malts and hops. crystal like sweetness, light toasty and bready malts. hops come through but not quite as strongly as in the nose. pine and some citrus fruits.

Mouthfeel: light and good refreshing qualities. good dryness and some bitterness. lingers a bit but fairly clean

Overall: not a bad IPA. not quite the malt bill I look for and also the hop profile is a little weak in the taste. good dryness and mouthfeel.

L: Pours a clear golden with a dense white head. Good lacing.

S: Piney hops dominate the aroma with a mild caramel malt underbelly.

F: Good Bitterness with a nice pine and floral hop presence.

F: light medium body, Medium low carbonation.

O: I like this beer. The overall hop presence isn't very strong for an IPA. I'm wondering if this one may have been on the shelf awhile. Great flavor though. I may edit this review when I can get one from my normal beer store who monitors shelf life. Still a great beer.

12oz, bottled on 070815 thanks to my friend, Derek, for grabbing this while on the road in Ohio.
A - deep golden body capped with a creamy white head that eventually fades to a thin layer of foam
S - juicy, fruity, and citric with grapefruit, orange, piny hops, caramel
T - smooth flavors and very easy to drink with notes of juicy grapefruit, mandarin zest, caramel, toasted grain, pine, faint passion fruit in the background
M - smooth yet resinous, fuller body, finishes pungently bitter and dry with pine and grapefruit lingering on the palate
O - really solid beer here. Glad to try it & I'd buy it again!

pours a clear copper color, small head that seems to retain pretty well. smell is of pine, resin, and sweet malts. taste is a bitter hop bomb, LOTS of pine and resin, a little bit of very bitter citrus (lemon or lime concentrate), and a less sweet malt backbone than the smell suggested. no booze bite at all, in fact i dont know how they could consider this an Imperial or Double when the ABV is only 7.5% and the taste isnt very balanced, definitely more of a standard IPA. mouth fell was actually very good and made up for where the taste lacked. decent beer, but probably wont ever buy again.

Bottles from Wegmans. Bottled 8-25-15

Pours clear yellow gold. Fluffy white head sticks around quite a while, leaving nice lacing.

Aroma is earthy, spicy, piney hops. Smooth, rich malts. Really nice. A bit of a tingle at the back.

Taste is nice. Piney, earthy hops in balance. Bitterness is delayed, and comes on after the sip. Noticeable malt body, but not sweet. Very slight alcohol presence.

Mouthfeel is smooth. Carbonation scrubs pretty well, medium-is body, and great dry finish with a negligible alcohol warthm.

Overall, a great ipa. Comes across as a nice mix between the more malty east US ipas, and the piney northwest style from home.
