Poured from a 330 ml bottle into a tulip glass

A: Straw in color pours to a white cloudy head dissipating fast to a white collar leaving some nice lacing. Very clear.

S: The nose is mild (relative to other big IPAs) but still there. Citrus fruit (oranges, tangerine, lemon) and a bit of pine.

T: The beer is hop forward and hits you first with a nice piney bitterness with fruit in the background. The hops are somewhat balanced out by a sweet malt character, but the hops override. The finish is long and bitter.

M: Round, smooth.

O: Perpetual is a nice looking beer and with a slight but tasty nose. A very good beer, but for me, the hop bitterness is a bit out of balance.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. Bottled on 4/23/13

Pours a dark copper color with not much of a head. Faint hop aroma on the nose, but it's not as big as I would like. Taste definitely favors the hops over the malts, but it's not a huge hop bomb either. Goes down smooth with a tad of bitterness on the back end, but that's not a bad thing. Medium body and low carbonation.Good feel.

Overall this is a pretty good IPA but nothing outstanding. Most east coast IPAs are lacking compared to their west coast counterparts and this is no exception. I wouldn't turn this down but it's nothing overly impressive either.

Appearance: It has a nice hazy golden/orange color to it. It has a nice off-white head that dies down moderately and leaves lovely lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of citrus, piney resins, grapefruit and bready malts.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has citrus, some grapefruit, a resiny pine bitterness, some caramel and some sweet bready malts.

Mouthfeel: It has a medium carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with good flavors and aromas.
