For Scratch #99, we’re revisiting the blissful world of the Belgian-style Witbier, or white ale. This beer typically features a blend of wheat and barley along with spices and Belgian yeast to create a refreshing and complex flavor. With a dense haze from the red wheat and a foamy white head, Scratch #99 incorporates subtle tartness and a delicate orange aroma that complements the spices and the LaChouffe yeast. The finish is dry and crisp.

Pale banana color with a cloud of yeast visible and uniform. Eggy white cap with lumps. Looks good.
Sweet lemon, coriander, and herbal spices. Bright and zesty with a minty aromatic vibe. Cut back with chalky yeast clumpiness and a daily serving of wheat malts.
Milky wheat and creamed yeast with evolving spice patterns that stay close to coriander, dried lemon peel, and light clove. Lots of wheatiness, but witte yeast spares the tang. Has orange notes that are not that sweet, by themselves. Refreshingly bright. Has a delightful creaminess in that wet body. Carbonation feels dry, but finely carved in. Immense mouth on this.
Nice simple Scratch beer. I'd move forward with this one.

On-tap 7/20/13 at the Troegs Brewery Tasting Room in Hershey, PA, served in a tulip glass.
A: The beer is a cloudy yellow color, with a large white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains a lot of spice, some Belgian yeast, light caramelized malts and a touch of hops.
T: The taste starts out strong spice flavors followed by some citrus sweetness. Then some mild breadiness comes in from Belgian yeast and a light malt character. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly spicy and slightly bready.
M: Crisp and smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.
O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, this is a solid sessionable beer to drink for a while.
