330ml bottle bought from Lighthouse Wines, Jordanstown...

Poured jet black - nothing gets through even when held up to the light. Dark dirty brown head poured thick and foamy then faded to nice thickish covering... very faint lacing...

Aroma - Strong (maybe slightly harsh) espresso coffee and toasted malts, some milk chocolate, oats, light blackcurrent/blackberry notes, cocoa, leathery, some solvent notes, woody, some faint vanilla traces, light spicy hops, burnt sugar...

Taste - Dark chocolate and strong rich dark coffee to the fore, roasted malts, smokey / char notes, some liquorice, some peppery hops, nutty, light molasses sweetness..

Feel - Very smooth and creamy with just a little sharpness after... full bodied... pretty drinkable for 7.5%

Overall - A very good coffee stout if a little rough around the edges... certainly worth a try though

Tasty and dark. Hints of coffee and bitter mocha with a hint of sweet chocolate. Quite tasty.

330 ml bottle served cold into a pint glass. Purchased from local LCBO for $4.25 CDN.

Appearance - Big and black with a half finger of brown head. Poor retention and no visibility into the beer.

Smell - Plenty of coffee, some dark chocolate and a boozy backbone that forewarns you. Rye bread notes too.

Taste - Plenty of coffee, especially on the aftertaste with some flavors of dark chocolate and some booziness throughout. Improves as it warms.. Mild and steady bitterness.

Mouthfeel - Smooth and creamy with sufficient carbonation to cut through the oily creaminess to give the beer some texture. Quite nice.

Overall - Definitely a nice coffee stout, however it's a bit one dimensional and the coffee while being a star doesn't completely take over. For those who like a subtler coffee presence this may be the beer for you for those looking for a huge coffee presence, look elsewhere.

Pours a blackish colour with a creamy brown head that is thin but persistent.

Creamy coffee.. burnt notes.....Oatmeal.......earthy...all dominate the bouquet.

Coffee coffee coffee.....burnt malts...dark chocolate...dark fruit....slight alcohol burn.

Mouthfeel is thick and syrupy. Good for the alcohol level.

Overall this is a good strong beer. Would buy again for sure.

330ml bottle into snifter. 7% abv. best before "2015.08", enjoyed on november 24, 2014

a: pitch black with just over a finger of coffee-coloured head

s: roasted malt, dark roast coffee (smells sour?), jalapeno potato chips (???), slight vanilla, toasted bread, and a kind of nutty presence. mild chocolate tones here and there

t: there's a quick flash of bready notes in the front, but massive bitter espresso then follows and dominates. the coffee flavour is so strong that it feels a bit sour come mid-palate. i guess there are hints of roasted malt, dark chocolate, and nuts as well, but the coffee just dominates over all of those flavours throughout the tasting. not getting any alcohol

m: quite thick and viscous, with mild carbonation. nice!

o: coffee coffee coffee! very one-sided which makes this a dark ale only for hardcore coffee lovers like myself. the sour qualities are a bit off-putting, but this is still tasty and a huge flavour bomb of a beer
