330ml bottle poured into Duvel tulip
A - a orange hazy colour is poured into the glass, quite unexpected: not pale in my mind. but there is a nice bright white head with good lacing and retention that makes up for the unappealing color. NB: there are the black chunkies that look like tea leaves, I do not know if this is some kind of weird yeast or just an ingredient
S - a sweet rice like flavour or something like sweet tamagoyaki. an earthy yeast is complemented by again a sweet acidity, like berries.
T - a nice light beer with almost not hint of the alcohol in it. there is a slight sweet malt flavour, that is dominated by the uncannily smooth flavour of the rice, making it a bit dry. the finish has a small burst of fruit: pear and strawberry sweetness and some spicy notes hit the back of the mouth. the after taste is very sweet and has a nice dryness from the rice, I take it. The sake influence is most definetly there, much like their Asamurasaki, light and with a berry spritz (the beer, however, does not come in a kick ass barrel, like you see Toshiro Mifune walking around with in Kurosawa's movies).
MF&D the feel is great, carbonated, yet heavy enough to convey enough flavour to satisfy even the most discerning belgian connoisseurs (hopefully, since I really like this beer). the drink is great, something I could have for breakfast lunch dinner and more. the only thing holding the feel back imo is it is a bit too piercing and crisp, the carbonation should be bigger.
