On tap @ the Liar's Club in Alpine, CA. I had this not long after they first opened for business and before their grand opening. I also had the Rubicon Wheatwine side by side with this one. I enjoyed this one a bit more.

Pours clear copper with thin tan head and moderate lacing. The aroma has lots of caramel and toffee up front with mild dark fruity esters behind. The taste begins with rich chewy dark fruity esters coming from dates, prunes and cherries. This quickly becomes molasses, moderately roasted malts, caramel and toffee showing up to create a base camp for the flavor. Nice mix that would benefit from additional aging. It is darn tasty right now and the best big beer I've had from Karl Strauss to date.

Half gallon growler purchased from this location for twelve dollars yesterday, good price considering that four dollars of that was for the glass

Sat in my refrigerator with tape covering the lid for about nine hours before drinking last night after bringing it straight home from the source

First wheat wine I have ever tasted, I was very interested to seeing what this beer style was like, I cannot wait until Lost Abbey finally releases their version

This was the special tenth tap today and the people working there said this was the best beer they had currently had

Poured into an oversized wine glass at home with a unique color, it was a mix between a medium brown, light red, there was a 1/2 inch off white head that stayed around for a few minutes, pretty good retention and some minor lacing

Smell was full of wheat and barley but smelled like a white wine at the same time, fruity aromas dominated by orange peel and white grapes, also some caramel malt and toffee aromas

Taste was very multi-dimensional to say the least, started off almost like a mellow barleywine without a big hop profile but then almost immediately faded into a chardonnay-like flavor, oranges and various berries were in the taste throughout, got smoother once it warmed and very easy to drink even though it has a high ABV is fairly heavy stuff, malt is dominating in this brew and it allowed seemed like this one could have used some stronger sour accents, a tartness might have made this even better, great flavor nevertheless, went well with hamburgers last night, very complex style of beer

Body was pretty thin but there was lots of carbonation, maybe too much even, taste lasted a long time, tarty but chewy mouthfeel, hard to explain

Drank two glasses and that was probably enough, too sweet to drink a lot of, alcohol percentage is super high as well, not a good session beer, heavy on the stomach, not the best drinkability

Probably the best beer I have had from this brewery and not because it was the most unique and new to me, nice flavor and all around enjoyable, recommended before they take it off their tap list, only a few barrels of this were made supposedly, not bad for my first wheat wine
