One of my favorite IPA's after I went on a tasting spree of IPA's brewed in NY over the summer (Wagner Valley IPA was another fave), so I had to go back and get a 6er.
Pours bit darker then your average IPA, 'coppery' as the brewery puts it. Impressive head with staying power and which leaves some sticky lacing. A few 'floaties' though detract from the overall appearance, but I s'pose a more careful pour would have avoided that.
Has a very nice aroma; you get a nice whiff of hops. Taste is what did it for me though: has the expected bit of IPA bitterness, but its not harsh like so many others. Also has a more solid malt backbone then your average IPA. I would say the malt and hops are in a friendly competition, with the hops winning out, but not dominating. Very balanced.
Mouthfeel is very creamy and smooth, despite the carbonation. I cant help but think of a quote from a Sam Adams commercial in which they say their beer "..is not watery, its got something to it. You know you're drinking a beer." Which is how I would describe this guy as its got a little bigger mouthfeel then an average IPA.
Highly drinkable. If it means anything, this is the first 6-pack of an IPA that I think I've ever purchased, as I was a 'malt man' for so long and avoided the hoppy stuff. No worries here though, this is an IPA done right.
