12 oz bottle poured into an imperial pint glass.
Well, Hurricane Irene is currently ravaging the area, so what better beer to drink?
Pours a dark red color with two full fingers of fluffy foam. Great lacing. Aroma has a nice crystal malt sweetness, cut by a nice grassy hop aroma.
first sip is quite malty, some definite crystal malt flavor, but it is quickly cut by a sharp hop bitterness. Pretty nicely balanced for an IPA. Almost seems like an imperial amber ale, due to the color and amount of sweetness.
This is the first beer that I've had from this brewery, and I'd say it's a very good example of an East-coast style IPA. I know my local place had a Milk Stout from them , so I'll probably get that next time I'm there, based on the quality of this beer.
