Always have heard good things about this IPA, thought it was time for a go.
Pours a deep copper red hue, much darker than most IPAs. A finger and a half of thick and rocky off white colored head forms that doesn't seem to mind sticking around for a bit. Plenty of sticky lacing left behind as it slowly dies down to film cover.
Aromas are balanced and flavorful; a pleasant mix of earthy hops, citrus rind and serious malty caramel/nut notes. Not as hop forward as most IPAs, but I was anticipating that from the deeper color that this wasn't going to swing that way.
Despite the malt emphasis on the nose, the grapefruit kicks you in the face initially on this one. Although, the malt does makes its presence well known in the finish, contributing a sweet bready flavoring to round it out. Lingering, yet subtle hop bitterness throughout. Pretty nice IPA, though hop-heads will be disappointed.
Medium to heavy body with some thick and rich characteristics. Finishes semi-dry with a slightly sticky nature. Pretty filling, yet doesn't pack the ABV punch you'd expect for the body type.
Overall, an admirable, yet kind of different take on a classic IPA. Easy to find and a good bang for the buck, I'd buy it again.

A: Red copper. Off white head that should persist more. Spotty lacing.
S: Sweet toffee, grains, floral and citrus hops. Lots of molasses treacle.
M: A little rough, medium body. A scratchy sensation on the back of the palate. Moderate carbonation. On the drier side, but some malt creaminess is noticeable midway.
T: A whirl of flavors-sweet, bitter, tart. Orange peel, sweet grains, chewy dough, bright tangerine, lemon, bitter herbs, lots of dry hopping- good amount of scratchy pine that's piercing more than resinous in character. Tangerine and some complimentary chives in the end. Would taste nice with some nice sharp cheddar.

Notes are from 5/30
This IPA is copper for sure, clouded in the body and lightening at the edges. A deeply-pocked tinted finger maintains a height of just over one finger. Heavy spotting at the very top gives way to thick, heavy sheeting that's pretty impressive.
The nose is simple but strong, balanced and deep. It puts hops forward, showcasing them in a pungent earthy, floral and leafy bitterness offset by creamy toffee sweetness and that light sweet and pithy balance of orange rind.
Honey and caramel seem to even out that same bitterness, which goes gently and unoffensively briny in the middle and finishes lightly woody with a touch of caramel.
The feel is smooth and creamy with a crisp bite in a medium body.
