Poured into a Hennipen glass.

A-Golden in color; clear, with a 1 1/4" mottled head. Decent lacing. Appealing.
S-Nondescript grains.
T-Hmmmm. Tastes o.k. to me, though, since this is by the makers of Hurricane Kitty and Mother's Milk, I expected more. Well made, technically competant, but uninspired and lackluster to boot; or maybe I've just become so enamored with their other beers that this style is simply not my bag...
M-o.k. mouthfeel. Clean and refreshing.
D-Sure: it's smooth and inoffensive as all git-out....

CRUX: GOOD LOCAL LAWNMOWER BEER. Their IPA ,Hurricane Kitty, and their Stout, Mother's Milk, are ALWAYS in the DBF, cos they are damn good local brews...this one rears it's head in the DBF only once in a while.

Appearance: Cloudy pale gold. Foamy pure white head.

Aroma: Hard to detect, but might just be me. First thought was nondescript fruity.

Taste: Nothing standout yet. Sourness. A familiar but vague spiciness.

Mouthfeel: Crisp. Light. Smooth.

Drinkability: Very. Not a huge punchy taste, goes down smooth and decently easy.

Overall, not bad but nothing amazing. Would not recommend.

Keegan Ales Old Capital pours a slightly hazy golden body beneath a short head of frothy white foam that settles down into a wide creamy collar and whispy surface covering. Lacing is somewhat limited, but it does leave some wide splashes and streaks of lace behind.

The nose is citrusy (mostly lemon-lime like with perhaps a light spritz of grapefruit) over a mild, gently sweet, straightforward maltiness.

In the mouth it's medium-light bodied with a gently crisp carbonation.

The flavor is exactly as the nose suggests, with citrusy hops cutting through the malt and leaving it refreshingly dry with a light bit of acidity. The gently sweet malt and mild hop bitterness are perfectly balanced, and it finishes dry with lingering notes of lemon and lime.

Quite nice! A refreshing, hoppy brew!

appearance very pale in color yellow straw head dissapeared quickly. Smell not much here just a hint of bread and some sweetness. Taste a touch of malty sweetness and very restrained bitterness. Mouthfeel lite in body mediem carbonation. Drinkability would make a decent session beer.

Pours a medium straw with a beatiful head and excellentlacing. Smell is malt, grass and fruity undertones. Taste is likewise maltly, fryuity and ends with some mild hop elements that leave the back palate dry. Mouthfeel is light and smooth. Drinkability is very easy especially with the pleasant light hop bitterness on the finish.

A: A glass consuming bright white head dominates the vessel with a sturdy, rocky foam structure. A strong sense of swirling effervesce rises within a pale brass coloring that showed a brilliant clarity. Patchy, sporadic lacing.

S: Pale grains, straw and not much else. Very mundane, no spiceness, boring.

T: A bit washy flavor-wise, dry wheat, some stale dry oranges, and grapefruit hopping. Damp musky grains, some brief moments of hope and flavor where i thought this turned the corner were only met with the disappointing realization that this wasnt really good with a weak washy finish.

M: Again a washy mouthful, light body, stale citrus and for such a strong visisble carbonation presence it felt really fizzy on the tongue lacking a crisp factor. Washy musky citrus feel.

O: Keegan ales continues to disappoint me with their boring, bland interpretations that probably may get attention from the macro-craft crowd, but gets lost in the swill with the more demanding craft flavored drinker. No frills, watery down flavor and just not up to style on this one, watered down.

Another elbow deep grab into the deep end of my mini fridge. Why it was built without a light socket I will never know. I hope nothing that's mutated reaches out & bites me. A blanked out spot where the BB date should be has me pondering.

Would you like to know more? /click here

I pour it out & despite the weak head, the endless stream of carbonation running for freedom piques my interest. Almost, but not completely clear. Must be traffic. Is it really that bad being stuck down there?

It must be because it smells stuffy & damp down there. The kids need to get out once in a while & get some sunlight. Dusty old lemon wood polish & stale Fruity Pebbles. Mom must be secretly cleaning your room again. Did you remembered to put back dad's pornos? Eh, just tell her your friend must of left it there.

The halfhearted texture of wheat, coupled with the mild, over-salted taste of a cheap seafood dinner, finished off with the bitter minty taste of kissing her right after sex... she already brushed here teeth. :|

Your sister was better :(

A: The beer is clear straw yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a thin off white head that never completely faded away.
S: The nose has light to moderate aromas of bready malts and hints of floral hops.
T: Initial tastes of bready malts quickly give way to a moderate amount of bitterness from the hops (the kind of bitterness you would expect from a pilsner as opposed to an IPA).
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The beer is rather easy to drink and can be considered sessionable given its low alcohol content. I would consider having it again if I was looking for something refreshing on a hot summer day.

Poured a cloudy medium straw hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and lacing.

The smell featured a light biscuity aroma cut with a lemon zest essence.

The taste was overly sour. I could pick up some soft malts in there, but could not appreciate them because of the sourness.

The mouthfeel was clean and sour.

Overall not a very impressive beer. Too sour. Period.

L: Pours a nice golden yellow with a medium sized and smallish white colored head that laces the glass a bit on the way down.
S: Smells of sweet lightly toasted malts and hints of light citrus-y hops at the end but not a lot.
T: Like the aroma, it has a light bodied lightly toasted malt base with hints of citrus-y hops at the end of it. Kind of dries out and a slightly bitter aftertaste.
M: Pretty good, light bodied, perfect amount of carbonation.
D: OK, if it had a cleaner finish it would be really really good.

Even listed under the Blonde Ale tag, this beer is just too light for me.

Pours a very thin, bright yellow with little head. Smells of lemon, and almost riverbed stones come into play.

Taste is somewhat sour due to strong presence of lemon. Nothing about this beer says ale... it's all blonde.

Another American Blonde Ale another mediocre experience. I ordered this beer from George Keeley's on Manhattan's Upper West Side for one reason; i'd never had it before. As a blonde ale it was pretty good but, as I've said before, not my favorite style. Very bright yellow/gold color, decent carbonation that is very light, aroma of light malt and subtle hops. OK flavor.

Pours hazy yellow gold with a massive 2 finger foamy/cloudy white head that fades slowly leaving very nice lacing; tons of bubbles race up the brew with rapid carbonation.

Smells of corn, sweet malt, caramel, cereal, lemon zest, funky yeast and some citrus hops; the grainy odor is the strongest and this smells kind of like a macro ale.

Tastes of lemon, sweet malt, caramel, corn, grains, wet cereal like Special K, yeast, light citrus hops, fruit like sour apple and a metallic finish; pretty non-descript and dull flavor that seems watered down.

Mouthfeel is light and crisp, with a watery feel, high carbonation and a real ease to drinking this. It went down like iced tea.

If it tasted better this would be a great session beer, but it's just so average that it doesn't distinguish itself enough to build a following.

I really enjoy Keegan's other two beers, so I was bitterly disappointed by this one. It pours a fizzy gold color with a slight head. Nothing really interesting there. Aroma is pretty good, sweet and crisp with a citrus overtone.

That's where this beer's likability ends, though. The first few sips of this beer I was actually enjoying, due to its unique take on a fruity/pale ale brew. But as the beer wore on, it just became more and more unpleasant. The stinging lemon citrus flavor become unpalatable, and mixed with the high carbonation and thin mouthfeel gives the illusion of a hard lemonade. The hop profile sits in the background and watches it all happen.

Overall this is a strange beer that didn't really grab me. I really wanted to like this one, too.

Pours straw yellow - slightly hazed - with a thin white head that soon becomes a lasting, thin wisp. Vanishing and dotted lacing stick.

The smell is bready, lightly grainy with a lemony touch.

The taste is grainy, bready - slightest touch of toast - with sour lemon and a mildly citric, dryish finish. Well-balanced.

Aggressively carbonated. Rush of carbonation in a light-body. Pretty crisp.

A well-balanced blonde ale. Carbonation a bit too much, and if aroma were beefed up to the taste, it would be better. Bottom line, a decent blonde - nice sour and bitterish touch to it to balance it out. Certainly worth trying, especially if you don't mind aggressive carbonation.
