I expected by the smell this beer to be hoppier than it is but its the malt that comes through. Rich, ruby ale that is well worth trying a bottle or two. I like the St Austell beers and this one is a belter.
Its gone down a little too easily really so I`ll slow down on the next one.

500 ml bottle conditioned, at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5%. Beautiful copper colour, moderate off-white head, nice lacing. Lovely aroma of fruity hops (Styrian Goldings and Cascade), also hints of spruce, caramel and ripe berries. The medium sweet flavour has a nice balance between the malts and hops, notes of caramel, toffee, sweet biscuits and ripe berries. A little more bittering hops in the finish would not hurt, but this is a very enjoyable ale as it is.

From Hipercor. In Ikea's pint glass. After dinner. Caramel with spicy notes and a strongly grassy hoppy finish. Nice effervescence, zesty and refreshing. Drinks very well, totally sessionable

Poured into pint.
L: Dark bronze color, transparent, with small foam head.
S: Raisin notes, malts, sweets.
T: Caramel and spices. Pleasurable bitterness. Not best in star but good in finish.
F: Light body, low carbonation.
O: Good balanced ale. Worth a try.

Nice dark amber appearance with decent head and lacing.
Smells of floral, earthy hops and sweet malt.
Taste is of sweet malt, toffee and floral English hops. A more hop forward English Pale Ale taste. Nice lingering bitterness on the finish. A bit of English Ale yeastflvour is also present.
Overall a well balanced an tastier than average EPA with a nod to American Pale Ales. Easy to drink yet flavourful and also refreshing. May not blow many people's socks off but its a very above average beer in this category.
