Light hazy golden brown. Tropical fruit, melon, papaya, bubblegum

Taste follows nose almost perfectly, with an ever so slight bitterness to mite the floral nature of the nose. A grassy feel slowly builds as the fruit and malt fade, drying the palate a bit. The carbonation seemed decent, but I didn't feel much of it in this pour.

Very interesting and refreshingly new to me. Wished for just a bit more bite from the hops profile.

On tap at the Local Taphouse for their 4th of July 2014 US Tap Takeover.

Pours a pale orange gold, bubbly white head with slight haze. Decent lace; looks alright.

Hoppy on the nose. Resinous and piney with citrus as well, hugely bitter-smelling but nice caramel, cake batter malt coming through as well. It knows what it is. Surprisingly sweet but actually not bad.

Taste is hoppy, and yeah, IPA-esque. Pleasant with lots of citrus zest and pith upfront, gets odd caramel toffee notes midway before resinous bitter finish. Yeah, pretty decent West Coast IPA, amusingly unpretentious in the world of double and triple IPAs.

Quite a harsh texture from the hop oils. Decent body though.

Bit bitter, but nice enough flavours.

A: Slightly hazy amber color with a moderate amount of carbonation. The off white head survives the entire time, and leaves ribbons of syrupy lace along the glass.

S: A whirlwind of pine, grapefruit, and tropical fruits. Resinous.

T: The flavor follows the nose. More traditional hop notes of pine and citrus, with a splash of juicy tropical fruit form the Mosaic hops. The finish, though long, is a bit more harsh, leaving a slightly tart grapefruit pith flavor.

M: Moderate carbonation and body. Resinous with a mild bite from the hops.

Overall: This IPA is stunning. Even before opening the bottle, the reflective label invokes the vivid color and bright flavors you would expect from an IPA brewed with the Mosaic hop. This is my first time trying Elysian, and definitely not the last. The finish is a bit tart, but that can hardly be called a flaw, as it is actually a refreshing finish to this devastatingly juicy IPA.

22oz bottle, with a tiger shooting laser beams out of its eyes depicted on the label. What, Phillips Electric Unicorn doing the very same thing wasn't enough?

This beer pours a hazy, dull-looking medium tarnished golden yellow colour, with three fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and certainly bubbly ecru head, which leaves some nice chains of gear cog lace around the glass as things evenly subside.

It smells of dank pine needles, peppy tropical fruit - pineapple, guava, lime, and underripe mango - a sharp, nondescript citrus rind bitterness, grainy pale and caramel malt, a bit of earthy yeast, and a middling chalkiness. The taste is big forest flora green hop bitters - pine, floral, leafy, and musty, all kickin' it alongside its foreign fruity pals - fresh pineapple juice, papaya, kiwi, and a hint of grassy lemon (not quite lemongrass, tho) - gritty pale and slightly bready caramel malts, a minor savoury spiciness, and some middling, probing alcohol esters.

The bubbles are fairly active, and a mite bit cutting at times, the body a decent medium weight, and not particularly smooth, but you don't really care so much about that, given who the perpetrators are here, eh? It finishes quite dry, the pine/citrus/dank hops of mouthfeel renown extending their stay, at the expense of, well, everything else.

Another splendidly fruity and bitter IPA from a West Coast American brewer of such. There are layers of hoppiness to chew through here, which speaks well to multiple indulgences, especially given the relatively sane ABV, both in strength, and actual rendition. A definite stop and smell the flowers kind of offering for aficionados of the style.
