I had this beer at the pub in Seattle years ago and was excited to try it again recently.
I poured the beer into a snifter at room temperature. The brew pours a dark chocolate brown with a small creamy beige colored head foaming up that recedes to an edge layer quickly. Aroma is dry roasted malt and some cocoa powder.
First sip reveals a very fine yet prickly carbonation and lite to medium body. Silky smooth texture. The flavor starts with roasted malt and some sweet chocolate mixing. Finished with some drying and a lingering roastiness. Very smooth and very easy to drink. This beer is a winner for sure. I would drink bottle after bottle of this and be completely content!

Black n tan on pour, and the smell is of, erm, nothing. I repeat nothing, but gets even more weird as the taste is immediately smoky, cigar box, choc, and light roast. Quite lightweight taste really, almost too lightweight for 'real beer' quote unquote and I suspect very sessionable. One of the least, if not the least balanced beer I have ever had in terms of small and taste.

22oz into a pint
A - Pours a dark brown with amber highlights. Light head, almost non-existant. Mocha colored.
S - A nice bittersweet chocolate nose. Some yeast in the background. Not much for hops.
T - Starts off smooth, velvety and with a nice layer of chocolate. Mid-stream gets some nuttiness flavors. Some bitterness in the finish, and just a hint of some astringency. On the sweeter side but not bad.
M - Moderate body and light carbonation. Comes off a bit thin. A little bit clingy in the after taste, but not sticky.
O/D - A nice and easy drinking porter. A great session porter I would think . Nice finisher beer.
