22-oz bomber to tulip. Traded for in Seattle at the end of May 2013. Consumed 8-16-2013.

Oily appearance in the first ounces of the pour. Opaque body except at the edge, which is dark brown / ruby. 1-finger tan head dissipates completely, lacing patchy. Tons of rising carbonation.

Very strong roasted barley malts, oats, lactose sugar, light notes of grass / hay.

The roasted malts impart an acrid bitterness immediately out of the bottle, but this eases with each sip. The higher alcohol content is noticeable. There's chocolate later, with citrusy bitterness in the aftertaste. There's nohing extraordinary going on. This is a typical stout, wth medium carbonation and medium creamy body from the addition of the oats. For this abv, I prefer the taste of Ipswich much more, but this is definitely serviceable. A good example of the style, hence the generous rankings in taste and mouthfeel.

bomber into a snifter @ room temp.

pours a dark black with an inch+ thick beige head. Smell is BIG on roasted, charred malts. The taste is very subdued and pleasant. Youd imagine this is a huge stout based on the nose but that isnt the case. The oats did a great job to smooth this one out and make it exceptionally creamy, tasty and easy to drink. The flavors arent too complex, good and standard for the style with not a lot of hop character, but the smoothness of this brew really make it stand out above the rest. Medium bodied with mild carbonation. Exceptional drinkability.

Overall quite impressed by this one. Price point was cheap so i didnt know what to expect but after having it ill definitely be having it again. This is a top of the line oatmeal stout.

Bomber from 2010, courtesy of injuredreserve, finally pulled out of the cellar and shared. Didn't mean to age this one so long, but sometimes that's just the way things go. Right?

A: Black body with brown highlights and a finger of fine brown head. Ok retention, delicate lace. Pretty good.

S: Rich chocolate, dark fruit, graham cracker, and hazelnut. Very pleasant.

T: Chocolate-covered raisin up front, with nuttiness and coffee toward the finish. Long, nutty, bittersweet aftertaste. Complex and tasty.

M: Soft, creamy medium body. Excellent.

O: This held up incredibly well for a not-quite-imperial stout, and was well-received both by me and everyone with whom I shared the bottle. I didn't expect much after accidentally aging it for three years, but it was just great.

Cheers!

A thick, black stout...obsidian and as dard ans a coal mine. The head is a brownish tan, full and thick ,with serious staying power. A complex and boozy brew, the smell is a wild mix of alcohol, smoke, grain, oats, peach skins, hay, and charcoal. Interesting and intense. Full and medium sweet taste. If anything, it has a bit too much warming and high alcohol scent and feel.m it would be a great winter brew. Full in body. Substantial in all respects.

Elysian Brewing's Dragonstooth Oatmeal Stout pours what a nice stout should pour, that is, a deep, deep black with a thick tan head. Lacing and retention are both top notch.

Dragonstooth has a powerful aroma of sweet, roasted malts with coffee and chocolate. There might be a touch of hops in there, but if there is, it's pretty well-hidden.

The taste starts off nice and creamy, with notes of chocolate up front. This is followed by a nice, roasted, bitter coffee flavor, which stays on the tongue for a while.

Dragonstooth is full-bodied, creamy and chewy, with medium-low carbonation.

This is a great example of a thick and powerful stout.

Pour is black with burnt edges and a coffee colored tight head. Nose is light, charred malt, faint milk chocolate, and a hint of roasted coffee. Taste is a hint brighter, charred malt, light chocolate and coffee. Medium to light body with soft carbonation and a fairly dry finish.
