Scored this via Let's Pour. Inky black with a densely packed and well-retaining dark tan head. Chocolate, molasses, and coffee all intrigue the nose. Big roasty malt complexity also includes some smoke and burnt toast. Black licorice, smoky, dark toast, and espresso all making their presence known all the palette. Bitterness is medium-high. Hop flavors seem secondary here though perhaps a bit earthy. Medium-full in body, slight creaminess is notable and pleasant. Carbonation seems appropriate for the style and is moderate/moderate-low. Overall this is a rich, roasty beer with deeply hued dark malt bill atop a luxurious lush silky body. Well done.

This poured out as a thick black color with a thin tan head on top. The retention is thin, but the lacing is sticky. The smell of the beer is slightly hoppy, roasted and malty. The taste of the beer has a pretty strong bitterness, lots of dry chocolatey roasted malt. The mouthfeel is thick, nicely carbonated with a dry finish. Overall this is a pretty good brew.

22oz bomber

Appearance- Thin caramel colored head and onyx black, lacing down the glass

Smell- Coffee and chocolate hits big on the first sniff, toasted but good sweet notes

Taste- chocolatey from the get go, the bitterness hits mid and back mouth but not before a caramel malt comes in

Mouthfeel- full body, carbonated tingle and wet finish

Overall- a very nice stout, one for the books. This thing is made to chew on for dessert.

Cheers to Goblinmunkey7 for sharing this

Appearance: Dark brown, hazy, with an unexpected amount of sediment - small, off-white head - fades to a tiny cap, leaves a few spots of lacing

Smell: Roasty and sweet - serious and obvious oatmeal aroma, perhaps more than the average oatmeal stout - some malty, oat, and caramel sweetness - chocolate and coffee notes

Taste: Roasty, dryness, and oats - dark chocolate, burnt chocolate malts, and semisweet chocolate - a distinct oat flavor - some caramel and molasses-like sweetness - sharp, bitter finish - some hints of coffee

Mouthfeel: Medium body, nicely smooth thanks to the oats, nicely carbonated

Overall: Apparently not brewed with actual teeth

This is a solid oatmeal stout. Not the best I've ever had, but the oats are used quite well. Sadly not as memorable as some of the Elysian pumpkin beers.

Split with angrybabboon.

Appearance: Super dark brown, almost black before being held to direct light. Small.dark khaki head is super creamy and smooth. Drops to a small cap and rocky loose collar. Solid carbonation visible on the side of the glass.

Smell: Super chocolate and roasted malts. Dark chocolate, cocoa powder, with a tiny bit of sweet milk.chocolate on the back. A touch of burnt malts. Almost milky lactose sweetness. Rich roasted malt. Some oats in the back. A bit gritty and raw. So much chocolate. Castings of citrus on the top. Some brownie batter.

Taste: Roasted chocolate. Coffee beans. Milky chocolate. Some solid baker's chocolate and cocoa powder. Crazy roasted, almost burnt with some char. Big sweetness tempered by the bitter roasted profile. Some vaguely citrus notes. Chocolate.covered espresso beans. Slight husky grain. Did I mention chocolate?

Mouthfeel: Crazy creamy. Very smooth. Medium body with a slightly above average carbonation. Clean. Not particularly dry or wet.

Overall: Jimmy and Jimmy approved.

A stellar take on the oatmeal stout. Lots of malt character with a subtle hop influence. Crazy amounts of chocolate and roast. Worth seeking out and drinking when you're looking for a truly great example of the style.

22oz bottle poured into a snifter.

A: Pours a very dark brown appearing black in the glass. A one and a half finger khaki head sits atop this bold brew. Leaves some nice lacing.

S: Roasted malts, oatmeal and a surprisingly hoppy backing. A dark fermented fruit tone as well. A touch of mustiness.

T: This is quite a balanced beer. Starts off with a solid oatmeal and roasted malt character. Just a touch of hops kicks in to smooth things out, but they really aren't too bittering which is pleasant. Just a touch of booze at the end.

M: A very creamy and smooth mouthfeel on this one. Low carbonation. Very pleasant to sip on.

Overall this is certainly one well crafted oatmeal stout. Great balance and incredible mouthfeel. Keeps a rich taste without being overly packed with alcohol.
