Poured from 22oz bomber into a pint glass. My bottle indicates this is 6.3% ABV rather than the 5.6% listed above.

Appearance: nice medium orange color with a little bit of a haze. Head poured rather thin and dissipated quickly, though there is a nice lace.

Smell: sweet and jasminey, rather a lot like jasmine tea. There is a little sweet malt underneath that but if there are hops in this IPA, I cannot smell them. I like the jasmine but it is all rather one-dimensional.

Taste: a somewhat sweet malt with a little bit of caramel supports more of the same jasmine flavor. The jasmine isn't quite as pronounced on the tongue as in the nose, but it is still a bit heavy in the mix. Hops, again, are indistinguishable, though there is a nice bitterness in this beer. I give this beer high marks for originality and courage, but it lacks the subtlety that jasmine demands.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good amount of carbonation that complements this well.

Drinkability: this is a hard one to say. I'm finding it quite refreshing but I'm certain I would not want another bottle after this one. Not a session beer, but drinkable in small quantities. I bet Avatar IPA is aces when paired with Chinese, Japanese or Thai food.

A: Bomber poured into a tulip glass reveals a hazy, golden orange colour with a foamy well-risen head. Foam sticks to the sides of the glass that fades slowly down the sides. The colt suggests transparency, but there isn't much to speak of. This beer is quite pretty and bright.

S: I don't like the way this smells. There's took much malt coming through on the nose and it smells very corn-y, like an AAL. For an IPA, the hop profile is extremely weak in this.

T: First sip reveals a strong malt backbone with some unpleasant tastes on the finish. The beer rounds out, however, and eventually reveals a subtle hop bitterness with some fruity sweetness that complements the malt. Paired with sweet potatoes, this beer even has full-blown mango aromas and taste. The beer should be slurped to really open it up, and it needs to be constantly swirled to release its full flavor, or else it becomes too solidly malty and impenetrable. The Jasmine qualities barely come across, except in the bitterness. I wish this were more floral.

M: typical mouthfeel for a fresh IPA. Very effervescent without being overly carbonated. Very nearly perfect for the style.

O: I probably wouldn't get this again because I prefer a more fruity, citrusy, or grapefruity IPA, but I can see the appeal in this beer if you like malty, bitter IPAs that have some pleasant astringency. Not for me, but not bad for what it is.

Amber orange color with a thick head with medium retention and floating particles.
Nice predominant and stable aroma of jasmine and papaya.
Flavor of jasmine tea, orange citrusy, clear malt sweetness, papaya, pineapple and spices. Dry and bitter aftertaste with a lingering floral note.
Medium body with good carbonation.
Interesting brew, flavor starts heavily on respective floral note and moves towards citrusy.
