Served on tap in a pint glass

Appearance – The beer was served a lightly hazed orange amber color with a one finger white head. The head faded very fast leaving almost no lacing at all.

Smell – The aroma was a mix of bready aromas and a strong floral hop aroma. As the name of the brew predicts the flowery aroma is mainly of a jasmine aroma, although there are other aromas of a herbal nature mixed with the jasmine flower hop smells.

Taste – The taste starts out bready with some caramel sweetness up front. The tongue is quickly met with some hop flavors of a floral and citrus nature. The citrus is on the sweeter side with some orange as well as a light grapefruit taste. Toward the end the floral flavors get stronger, with a jasmine flavor dominating the hop taste. In the end a quite jasmine flower and mildly bready taste is left to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel- The body of the beer was on the average side in terms of its creaminess with a carbonation level that was rather average as well. Both were rather appropriate for a nice balance for the floral hop flavors and the more malty and bready flavor while keeping a good level of drinkability.

Overall – A very flowery IPA. It was not all that bitter and was quite easy drinking.

Enjoyed the Avatar Jasmine IPA on tap at Elysian Fields out of a standard pint glass. The pour shows off a good looking bronze color with a small white head of tiny bubbles.

This beer has a big floral bouquet with sweet jasmine at the forefront and a bit of piney hops.

The jasmine flavor also leads the way on the palate hitting hard initially but mellowing nicely with a little malt carrying through to the balanced finish. The hops blend in very well and work nicely with the jasmine.

This is a very drinkable IPA that goes down smooth. An easy beer to like... if you are a fan of IPA and if you can handle the strong floral notes.

Served at Coles in Buffalo on tap. The waitress recommeneded it as something different that if I enjoy IPA's I might like. It is really refreshing to have a server actually know about beer.
Appearance-dark yellow, medium to heavy carbonation, some lacing.
Smell-heavy floral notes coming through, Jasmine.
Taste-heavy floral hop notes, the Jasmine really bites you, my wife tried it and stated the same but I enjoy a beer like that and she does not. So different from your usual IPA that I had to love it. I kept getting more and more with every taste.
Mouthfeel-hoppy as hell, very floral.
Overall-I really enjoyed this but probably would not drink more than two in a sitting, I could see that this beer would definatly not appeal to everyone.I will seek this out again, love the floral notes.

had on tap at rattle n hum after a jam with some buddies. showed up in a pint glass. pretty dark in here, but when held to the light, kind of orange. smells like a watered down ipa. flavor isn't bad, more candy than hoppy. kind of smartie like in the flavor and a bit bitter finish. decent, but nothing great.

On tap poured into a sampling glass.

Pours a very light and clear amber color with a small white head. Nose is herbal and earthy, but just a bit too flat for me.

Taste is really unique, it's very herbal and spicy with a good hop bite. The Mouthfeel is light and sharp with a crisp light finish.

A- Pours a hazy amber color. Decent white foam on top, and reasonable lacing.

S - Scents are floral at first, though this leaves quickly. Has a bit of a honey smell. Slightly hoppy.

T - Pretty tame and balanced hop profile. Some residual sweetness is noted. Finish is a mild bitterness.

M - Unbelievably smooth for an IPA. While there is a hoppy bite it is tempered by a sweet honey texture. Very light, but not watery. I just found this so unique that I enjoyed it alot.

O - For IPA lovers this is a must try. Certianly not a hop bomb, but instead a great way to appreciate the subtle varieties of hops in this beer and enjoy them while not trashing your taste buds.

On tap @ Falling Rock last night.

A: Pours clear golden-amberish yellow with nice clingy lace over a decent finger thick white head.

N: Jasmine dominates, of course. Floral, herbal, some spicy citrus notes.

T: Follows nose with bread-like malt and hop backing.

M: Medium bodied, clean dry finish with lingering jasmine.

O: Interesting take on the style. Refreshing. Perhaps could tone down the jasmine just a little and increase the hoppy bitterness. Enjoyable, none the less.

Pours a lightly hazed amber color with decent cap of white froth, minimal lacing. Scent is floral hops and bready malts with some notes of citrus, pine and very light caramel sweetness. Taste leads with a minimal bitter floral and faintly piney and citrus hop profile as well as floral and fragrant jasmine. Bready malts provide the backbone. Medium bodied, dry and slightly bubbly. Would have appreciated a little more aggressiveness from the wonderful scent and taste notes the jasmine provides.

On tap at Elysian Fields in Seattle.

A: 1/8" white head over cloudy amber liquid.

S: Jasmine flowers and citrus hops.

T: Jasmine tea up front with citrus hops and a bitter finish.

M: Medium to thin viscosity and a medium to low level of fine carbonation.

O: An interesting beer, but not my cup of tea.

on tap, into a shaker pint

A - looks good - a golden copper, slight haze; nice finger of off white head - fades quickly little lacing;

S - hints of floral/jasmine, and a little sweet malt; the nose is dominated by a husky graininess that is thoroughly unappealing; don't know what to make of it;

T - just like the nose - dominated by astringent grain husk; was the mill set too fine and they just didn't notice?

M - starts off fine, but then gains in astringency

O - this should be a good beer, but something isn't right; I don't like to write reviews of beers that I can't be positive about, but I feel that if I have this beer again in a few months it will be very different beer...we'll see

Beer is yellow with a mild hazy, lazy thin white head of small bubbles, some lacing, low carbonation.

Aroma is nice and citrusy but overall weak, when you bill something as being "dry hopped with amarillo" it should smell like it.

Beer is sweet and really floral, finishing with a minimal bitterness, a nice not dry finish on a decent IPA. The flowers in this beer really adds to it. I think this is quite a good little beer and I would have it again.

This was my review of the bottled version:

I bought this beer because I had never had it but fully expected it to be too herby. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Jasmine was definitely noticable without being too overwhelming. Mostly like an IPA in color aroma and flavor with a slight herbal sense. Almost like a Rye Beer.

Overall, my impression of the draft version is much more like a standard IPA. Good, not great. A little on the cloudy side. Good and refreshing.

Had this on draught in my favorite beer tasting glass: St. Bernardus Watou.

Nose was the most incredible uniqueness - it's green tea, the good kind, not the fishy lipton kind.

Very light and drinkable considering this is an IPA, you may even miss the IBU's at start and think it is something lighter but hops do show through in a second. Finish is mouth drying with high tanin but overall much more drinkable than most IPA's, very interesting overall.

I'm a new student of beer trying to put my first impressions down so disregard if you like. Thanks

A light beige head sits over somewhat cloudy amber. Aromas are fruity and sweet, indicating this might be a well balanced IPA. Flavors deliver just a light hoppy snap that is sweet on the back end. Only hints of breadiness, but they're pretty minor. The carbonation and mouthfeel are all good for an IPA. I love hoppy IPAs, but having one that is balanced brings me down from my West Coast hop love and obsession. I'd for sure have this one again.

I had this at Red Bones NW Fest on 11/09/10

Appearance: Pale orange with light lacing. Looks the part, but nothing too remarkable.

Aroma: Herbal with accents of the tea that is in the brew. Some light biscuity malt too.

Taste: Unique and very tasty. Great melding of flavor between the jasmine tea and the herbal/floral hops. Malt bill does a good job of creating a nice palette for the rest of the beer to come forward onto.

Mouthfeel/Drinkability: This is a vibrant, light bodied beer. The flavors are robust, yet not overwhelming. Easy to gulp down as a refreshing drink or savor slowly to pick-up on all the flavors at play.

Overall: I really liked this beer, but not in the way I love most IPAs. Yes, the hops are very present, but this beer is not bitter. The flavors are what ring out on this one.

Draft into a mug @ Wegman's, Malvern.
Pours a hazy yellow/orange with a one-finger white head which dissapates to a coating. Some lacing, nothing special. Nose does have some jasmine but mostly sweet malt, flowery hops and lemon. Taste is not much like the IPA's I have had. No real hop profile and pretty sweet, with lemon, jasmine and some other herbs at the front. Not left with much that lingered from the last sip and no real bitterness at any point. Mouthfeel is nondescript light to medium with some carbonation. This wasn't an awful beer, just nothing I would go out of my way to get again.

On tap at Jupiter in Berkeley.

A: Pours a vibrant orange body with cloudy bubbles or sediment cluttering it up. Could stand to be a lot clearer; the turbidity promises a lot more flavor than the beer eventually delivers. A finger of off-white head, short retention, no lacing.

S: Lemon peel and leafy, green, tea-like aromas. I learned halfway through the glass that it was brewed with jasmine, so I was able to place that floral tea aroma from that point.

T: Lemon peel. It's a fairly dry IPA, with the flavor carried mostly by tea tannins. It's more bitter than flavorful, as far as the hops go; the profile was mild enough that I think of it as an APA. And it's not a particularly refreshing one, either; too bitter.

M: Light-bodied, with medium carbonation. A clean flavor, but it's not flavorful enough, either.

D: I thought it was unique, but altogether unremarkable.

Had on-tap at Sugar Mom's in Philadelphia

Appearance - A slightly hazy, darker golden color. Very little head.

Smell - Very spicy taste, could notice a decent malt background, as well.

Taste - Bitter and spicy. Not overly impressive. Lacked the floral and/or citrus taste that I have grown to love with IPA's.

Mouthfeel - Light body, with moderate carbonation, somewhat flat. Maybe I was drinking an older draft. Could taste the alcohol a little bit.

Drinkability - Spicy and crisp, this beer is easier to drink than others at the same abv. Very refreshing in it's nature.

Notes - Overall, a decent beer choice. It's not hugely flavored or incredibly herby/spicy but has a great balance. It can get the job done, if there are few other quality choices available.

Had on tap at the Grey Lodge.

Appearance: Hazy orange with some yellow in it. The pour was well done and had very little head. What I did see was about one finger of white head and decent lacing as the drink went on.

Smell: Jasmine is the overpowering scent but mixed with some citrus fruits like orange and even lemon.

Taste: Really refreshing and delicious. The jasmine is present but not so strong that it kills the drink. It's mixed well with orange, lemon and even some spices like coriander. It's a bit spicier then I'd think for an IPA but none the less really good.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with decent carbonation.

Drinkability: I ended up liking the beer a lot and did have a second. Granted its sort of an odd concoction for its style, however its really refreshing and will make a great summer beer. Give it a try if your looking for something slightly different.

I found this a pleasant surprise, like a delicate jasmine tea.

Pours clear light orange with fluffy substantial head. Aroma is elusive delicate and sweet. Flavor is light, floral and orangy. Quite delicate with the finish like a light tea. Slight orangy bitterness. The mouthfeel is surprisingly oil, perhaps the only flaw.

Overall, quite pleasant and refreshing.

sometimes i forget to smell. I guess it smelled ok and looked fine too.. I was expecting a little more from an IPA . It tasted kind of ordinary in my opinion. I don't know much about jasmine so maybe that's what threw me off. Actually it went quite good with what I ate so I think its solid drink with a meal.

Served straight pint glass. Poured a typical golden amber with just under an inch of foamy white head that had no retention or lacing.

The scent of jasmine hides the hop scents from the nose at first, but on second sniff they seem well blended. The same is not true of the flavor. The jasmine is so overpowering that the only way you can tell there hops in this IPA is by the dry finish.

The body is typical for the style. The drinkability is very poor, I struggled to finish my pint. Overall, try this if you're a beerhunter who wants this for his list, everyone else should avoid.

On tap at the Falling Rock, $5 per pint. The smell was nothing special or out of the ordinary, smells like an average IPA. The flavor however was something quite different, very floral from the jasmine I guess and then flavors of grapes and grape bubble-yum, weird but delicious. Overall, this was a good choice although I bet the jasmine would wear me out if I had more than one.

Sample at the Pike Street location. This brew is a clear light orange color with a medium thin and creamy off-white head that diminishes slowly. Sheets of lacing. The aroma is floral and herbal with notes of citrus in the background. Medium-bodied with a welcoming floral character (jasmine of course) and flavors of sweet toasted malt and citrus. Some hops are present as well. The finish is mildly hoppy with the jasmine flavor lingering. Overall this is an interesting beer, yet I am not sure if it is something I would want to enjoy as more than a sample.

A: Soft golden orange body. Medium white head. Moderate lacing and head retention.

S: Citric hops. Orange, grapefruit, lemon. Some floral notes from the jasmine. Soft semi-sweet malt comes through.

T: A bit lacking compared to the nose. All the hop bitterness is toned down. Fortunately the jasmine and floral notes still are present.

M: A bit thin. Not as crisp on the finish as i'd like to see.

D: Not bad. Was a bit disappointed with this one.
