Pours a hazy orange-ish to yellow color with an off white head. In the aroma, a mellow orange citrus. In the taste, big orange citrus rinds. A hop bite and a medium bodied mouthfeel, with a dry orange citrus and small sugary like aftertaste. Big orange citrus, lighter alcohol, dare I say a fantastic everyday IPA. (314 characters)

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a deep golden amber color with a one finger head of just off white foam. The head has a decent level of retention, slowly fading to leave a great level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the beer is on the sweeter side with lots of caramel and some lighter fruit notes of a tropical variety. Along with these are some light aromas of a grapefruit hop as well as a bit of pine.

Taste – The taste begins with a sweeter caramel taste with a little bit of fruity sweetness. Along with these are some lighter grapefruit hop flavors as well as a little bit of earthy hop. As the taste advances some floral hops increase in intensity with the caramel really getting rather strong toward the end of the taste. The earthy ups it up a bit at the end and with a light herbal flavor that also comes to the tongue leaving one with a sweet, but decently hopped IPA flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the medium side with a carbonation level that is average. The mid range body and carbonation are quite nice for the easy drinking nature of the brew, all while upholding the hop and sweeter flavors nicely.

Overall – A rather easy drinking but quite tasty IPA. Not too high in abv. with a nice blend of hops. While nothing super out of the ordinary, it is rather tasty and at least worth one try. (1,424 characters)

A: A hazy amber beer. There is a good head stand of rocky, off-white foam with good retention.

S: A moderately-strong mellow-like hop aroma with some passion fruit and citrus. There is a bit of clean malt sweetness and a light alcohol aroma.

T: An assertive hops bitterness and tropical fruit hop flavors dominate with light caramel malt flavor and supporting malt sweetness. The balance is decidedly bitter and might benefit from just a bit more malt. The finish is dry with a lingering hops bitterness and some citrus peel flavors aftertaste. The alcohol lend an additional touch a sweetness to the end and surprisingly noticeable for given its 6.3% ABV.

M: A medium bodied beer with a bit of creaminess and moderately-high level of carbonation. There is a light alcohol warmth in the belly and back of the tongue.

O: This very good IPA stands a bit apart from the pack due to Nelson Sauvin hops bring in a distinct hops character that is more tropical fruit than other American IPA. Find it while it’s fresh.

pours golden in my Deschutes tulip. Perfect glass for this beer.
Hoppy, citrus, above average West Coast IPA. Way above average for the IPA style. Close to a DIPA.
Way too drinkable. Goes down like a session beer.
I enjoyed this a lot and easily could down a bunch of these. (274 characters)

Thanks to 5000 for sending me this bottle.

The beer pours an orange color with a white head. The aroma has a lot of pine and orange in it, as well as some sweetness from the biscuit malt. The flavor is more complex. I get a lot of mango and apricot notes at first, along with some biscuit malt. As I drink more I start to get some peach and other tropical fruit. The bitterness level is low but the hop flavor is very strong. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. (467 characters)

This was my favorite beer at Hopfest! Even more impressive, it was like my 7th, my palate, I thought, was largely corrupted by this point in time, but bam, this hit me in the nose and mouth pleasantly.

Big vibrant orange color, but the nelson sauvin resinates in the nose. So yummy.

Taste, more of that sticky resin from the hops. Very smooth, chills on the bitterness, this was a pleasure to enjoy, it really was all about the hops, without the high ibu braggadocio. I loved Deadlift, and I love this one even more. Was such a nice change of pace. I didn't really get much of a grape feel, which is what I continually read about this hop, but who cares, I loved it!

I've had it twice in bottles, its a far cry from the awesomeness that I had at Hopfest. I dunno, just doesn't have the sauvin bite anymore. (811 characters)

Bomber with an artist monkey painting a hoppy masterpiece on the label...Idiot Sauvin using the NZ hops Nelson Sauvin. Pours a deep copper amber hue with a bright light khaki big bubbed head, forming a dimpled texture. Aroma has big citrus, spicy hops exotic earthiness all shines through with hints of caramel and biscuit malt presence. Flavor has a unique malt character with juicy upfront hops, big bitterness layered with caramelized malt presence, nice and big booze free. Alcohol is well hidden on the palate, but it's a unique mix of flavors. Caramelized sugars with big layered spicy citric hops coming big in each sip as well. Fuller bodied with texture hop oils, slow carbonation smooth bodied beer for sure. Extravagant beer with an exotic hop character keeps you hooked after each sip, go ahead and enjoy Elysian. (825 characters)

Pours a nice light caramel color with two fingers of tight white head. The aroma is very pleasant. Lots of nice citrus and tropical fruits (I get a sweet papaya like flavor). Taste is more of the same with the hops up front, a touch of caramel malt background not very strong, just enough to hold up the hops. The bitterness is really nice. I find that Nelson Sauvin hops give a softer, rounder bitterness, not harsh at all. The mouthfeel was good, though just a touch thinner than I would prefer. Overall a really solid IPA, especially is you like softer, fruitier IPAs. (571 characters)

16oz pint at the Underground.

This beer appears a hazy, dark bronzed amber hue, with one fat finger of puffy, frothy, and sudsy beige head, which leaves some stellar limestone cliff face painted lace around the glass as it slowly abates.

It smells of creamed caramel, semi-sweet bready malt, dank pine resin, lemon, grapefruit, passionfruit, and lime fruit bitters, ethereal uric acid, and further floral, somewhat perfumed hops. The taste is sharply acrid pine needle and forest floor detritus up front, denatured, very dry orange and grapefruit pith, bready, crackery caramel malt, and earthy, slightly musty, leafy, and floral hops.

The carbonation is moderate, just a softly burbling frothiness, the body a decent medium weight, and mostly smooth, those hops making but a small dent in this particular metric. It finishes off-dry, the gooseberry fruitiness of the hops finally coming through, amongst the lingering bitter pine and fading crackery malt.

Overall, a pretty peppy, hoppy, and pleasantly bitter IPA, the malt offset thankfully aided by the inherent fruitiness of the hops. Not particularly strong-seeming, or in actuality either, so were it was that I could stick around for a few more, but it's too damned nice outside, and this place, for all its merits, lacks any outdoor patio space (if the name wasn't a dead giveaway already). (1,352 characters)

Bottled 12/8/14. Bomber served cold into a shaker pint glass.

Savant is a clear golden amber color with thick white head. It has both good retention and lacing.

Aroma is hoppy and a little sweet with a unique citrus character.

Flavor is also unique with what seems to be an unusal blend of hop varieties. There's the familiar citrus and pine but also some more savory flavor as well. Bitterness is balanced with caramel malts.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and nicely carbonated with good balance for the style.

Overall an interesting take on the IPA but not my favorite. (574 characters)

22oz bomber poured into a pint

A- A slightly cloudy deep sunset-orange with a reddish twinge in the center. A nice rocky light tan head that retains better than average, with average lacing.

S- Piney, with a light sweet-grass second order whif every once in a while.

T- Amazing piney hop from beginning to end, slight oily finish, malt is cracker like, but not very strong, but it works well with the very piney hop. A real treat.

M- A little lighter than i would expect the body is not very firm. A little alcohol twang, very clean finish.

O- Excellent IPA offering with a nice piney twist. Cheers! (605 characters)
