Thanks to 5000 for sending me this bottle.

The beer pours an orange color with a white head. The aroma is full of some herbal notes, as well as some toffee and biscuit malt. The flavor is similar. The heather quality definitely comes through but it is complimented by some orange citrus, as well as some toffee and biscuit malt. The bitterness is low. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

T - Similar, sweet carmely malt, bread, more like toast.

D - Good carbonation with a nice medium body.

O - Very sweet, bready and toast like.

Draft at the brewpub in Seattle.

Pours a hazy pale golden orange color with a two finger frothy white cap that very slowly settles into a lasting ring. Chunks of soapy lacing left behind.

Sweet floral aroma that's slightly herbal with spicy hops and pale malt notes.  The heather is prominet giving off a perfume like fragrance.  The hops are also kind of strong with a spicy, grassy character.  Subtle pale malt backbone.

Medium bodied with a strong floral, heather presence that lingers over the hops and pale malt into a slightly dry finish.  I hate to use the word smooth but the heather gives off a silky flower petal presence that's nicely balanced by the dry hops.  Spicy but not bitter with pale malts adding some needed sweetness.  If the hops were any stronger they would overpower the flavor but as they are they provide really nice balance.  This beer isn't extreme but it's really well balanced, flavorful and easy to drink. Abv expertly masked.  Never would have guessed it was 7.65%.

Served on tap at Mugs Ale House in Brooklyn, NY

A: Pours a crystal clear glowing golden orange to copper in color. The beer has a finger tall creamy white head that slowly reduces to an even thick layer covering the entire surface of the beer. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Sweet caramel malt (though only slightly so) with herbal and grassy aromas - heather and lavender.

T: Very similar to the smell with a light sweet caramel malt body that has lots of herbal notes over it - heather, lavender, and just a touch of rosemary.

M: On the heavier side of medium bodied with light to moderate amounts of carbonation. Creamy and slightly dry.

O: First time I have found a Gruit beer on tap so I had to get it and I am pretty glad that I opted to try this one. Very enjoyable and one that you could sip on all afternoon long. For a not very easy to drink style of beer, this was surprisingly approachable.

On-tap at Mugs Alehouse, Brooklyn, NY

A: The beer is clear light red in color. It poured with a creamy finger high off white head that gradually died down and left a large patch of bubbles on the surface along with a thin ring around the edge of the glass.
S: There are aromas of herbs and sweet caramel malts in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the taste has a slight amount of sweetness along with flavors of rosemary and other herbs.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is quite easy to drink compared to other beers in the style, which are mainly dominated by flavors of the herbs.

Bomber served in tapered pint glass, cold. Beer pours yellow-orange with good clarity and a thin white head. Faint floral aroma -- not as much heather in the nose as there could be with this style.

Flavor is strong, not subtle. This is no session heather ale. At 7% this is a big beer, and it's got body to back that up. There's either a non-trivial hop load backing up the heather or there's been so much extraction of the heather that it comes out bitter and vegetably. My go-to heather ale is CBC's The Wind Cried Mari, and this beer couldn't be any different. Whereas CBC's is low ABV and unhopped, Elysian's pushes the boundaries of the genre. The result is refreshingly different, though, not quite as enjoyable on the whole.

I should also mention that my bottle was sedimented as unf. Be careful pouring.

Pours amber with some soapy white foam, near excellent clarity. Smells of pale malts with a hint of crystal. There's a nice floral character I can only describe as slightly candy like. Almost a limy woodruff. It keeps me coming, so that's cool. Flavor is slightly sweet and bready with a slight, again, tip of the tongue sorta thing here. It's got plenty of flavors, but I can't quite put my finger on the culprits. Medium on thick for the style with moderate carb and a semi slick finish. I had a taster of this previously, and wasn't impressed, I'm glad I came back to revisit. Nice beer. This apocalypse series is 50/50 for me at this point having had the first four.
