I had this on tap at T Brendan O'reilly's served chilled in a pint glass.

The color is sort of a murky hazed golden brown with light cream cap and fine bead, lace is pretty much non existent. The smell is very good with floral and spiced elements with mildly perfume type aroma with ginger and woody tangy scent along with the potpouri element of cardamom. The feel has a slight dry ale yeastiness with subtle spiced accent and light hint of earthiness with semi-dry finish and moderately low carbonation for the style and mild alcohol on the palate.

This ale has a gentle ginger spiciness and cardomom flavor that covers the mild alcohol taste and light malt sweetness but generally low in cardamom taste overall. The hops come forward slighly and malt has a place in the profile but it is really just to support the general high alcohol ginger beer scheme which is not bad in my opinion. Overall not a bad spiced beer -somewhat dry in the yeast andmalt so the spice can shine and the beer comes off as mild as far as the base goes so it is pretty easy to drink - it is a very decent but not exceptional spice beer.

Thanks to 5000 for sending me this bottle.

The beer pours a hazy orange color with a white head. The aroma is very heavy on the herbal notes. I get some cardamom and ginger, as well as some rosemary. There is also a hint of biscuit malt and some orange citrus.

The flavor is also herbal. I get some biscuit and toffee, as well as some rosemary and cardamom. The orange citrus notes also come through, and they are joined by a little bit of grapefruit. The bitterness level is fairly low. There is also a bit of a minty, medicinal quality that goes well with the other flavors.

Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

A: The beer is clear orange amber in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a two finger high off white head that eventually died down and left some lacing on the surface.
S: There are light aromas of cardamom in the nose; these start to become stronger as the beer warms up.
T: The taste has flavors of tea, herbs and spices, the latter of which seems to longer through the finish. As the beer warms up, the herbal flavors become stronger.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The beer almost smells like a gruit beer and is packed with lots of herbal aromas and flavors. It’s not a bad choice if you like cardamom.

A: Pours a cloudy glowing orange to copper in color with some gentle visible carbonation near the surface of the beer. The beer has a half finger tall light beige head that quickly reduces to a thick film covering the entire surface of the beer, a small thicker patch, and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: The aroma of the cardamon is in the forefront of the smell of this beer - it is not overly strong and is actually quite pleasant and inviting. Behind the smell of the cardamon, there is a more subtle aroma of tea.

T: Starts out with a pleasant, yet light, malt body and then the flavors of the cardamon and spices start to build. There is something very similar to the flavors in chai tea (herbs and spices with the tea).

M: Slightly lighter than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly creamy.

O: Because of the lack of traditional beer smells in this one, it almost reminds me of a Gruit beer. Due to the strength of the cardamon smell and taste, this is not the easiest beer to drink - and I am a person that really enjoys cardamon. Very interesting and I am very glad I chose this beer randomly for purchase.

22oz bottle poured into a large mug

Pours slightly cloudy coppery yellow with a pretty quick fluffy head, which fades quickly too, leaving some pretty lacing on the side of the glass. Lots of active carbonation. Smell is spicy. I would guess that it's cardamom, but I'm not sure what cardamom tastes likes. Sweet, maybe a little floral.

Taste is good, except for a soapy aftertaste. Sweet, some citrus and straw, more of that spicy flavor that I think is cardamom (with more confidence since I smelled the cardamom in our spice cabinet). But that soapy aftertaste is kind of a buzzkill...otherwise this is nice.

Mouthfeel is a bit gritty and dry.

Overall, if it wasn't for the soapy aftertaste, I'd like this beer quite a bit more.

Growler filled at DeCicco's in Ardsley, NY

Pour is cloudy and dull amber, under a lite tan head, that stays. Leaves a mess of bits of fine lace on the glass.

Spice infused nose, earthy and mineraly to my none to sophisticated sniffer.

Quite dry, quite hoppy and quite complex, with a healthy dose of dense spice. It's a dry brew with notes similar to cumin and lite chili pepper notes, also honey and a hint of mint come to mind.

I like it. Different, complex and quite enjoyable. Prolly would wash down some BBQ, thai or Indian food in fine style

The place where I had this just called it "Cardamom Pale" ale, so I hope this is the same beer. Served in straight pint glass. Poured cloudy/hazy golden yellow with just a very thin cap of white head that had no retention and very light lacing.

The spice dominates the aroma of this beer, so much so that I couldn't even smell beer. If I had sniffed this blindfolded, I wouldn't have known it was beer. On the tongue, some grainy beerness showed through, but the flavors were still dominated by the Cardamom. the beer did have a pleasant lemony finish though.

The body was fairly typical for the style, in the light-medium range, and the spice lingered for a while at the back of the tongue. Drinkability was OK, it would depend on how you like Cardamom, I'd guess. Overall, a decent enough brew, one that's worth a shot if you see it, depending of course, on your attitude towards the spice.

A clearish Carmel yellow. See through it
S smell hits unin the face. Didn't have to raise the glass to my nose. I gave a 4 just because of this. Great floral sense. Smells like a blossom. Orange blossom. Lemon spice. Definitely get the cardamom
T wow. That is unique. It tastes like liquid pollen. Very spicy but respect that it doesn't linger. I'm almost amazed the brewer can tame it down this far considering the power of the spice. I really have to respect this beer for unique flavor. The cardamom doesn't linger. I just can't give high ratings cause it isn't my flavor. Tastes like drinking orange blossoms.
M well balanced. Not too syrupy. Lingers a little bit. Coating of dry malt lingers in the back.
O well accomplished brew. Really love the cojones to make this so potently spicy and get away with it. Just not a fan to drink more than once. Too sweet for me. Almost tastes like an exotic food. Thai or Indian food in liquid form

This is a very dehydrated yellow, guys you know what I am talking about. A hazy yellow & dark in the select area. The head is very white in comparison and contains a bit of lace after a bit of breathing. This is a thick taste, takes a couple extra seconds to distinguish. The smell is that of an afternoon spent between Barney Gumble and the great Homer himself. The taste is of a honey like mix, spiced up with a batch of cardamom to take me back to the experiences with a guru. I was not expecting much, so I guess I am plesantly surprised. I advise to give this a try. Why..?..figure it out yourself for once. The green part still confuses me though.

Diaphanous amber (a little dark for the style) with white soapy bubbles about the surface. Smells strongly of cardamom and slightly with a hint of cinnamon. Not getting any particular pale character beyond the cardamom. Flavor follows suit with a hint of biscuit and actually reminds me of cheap pizza sausage. Medium on heavy for the style with light carb and a semi dry finish. I'm not impressed. But well, if you dig cardamom, then you might dig this.

I bought a bomber of Elysian Fallout at the Swamp Tavern. $12. The 3rd in the Elysian 12 Beers of the Apocalypse series. Poured in to a pint glass.

Pours a bright gold color and hazy. Stark white creamy head.

Smell is a floral citrus aroma, lemon and orange blossoms.

Taste is a sweet bread flavor up front, with a fruity citrus flavor on the finish, with a mildly bitter sweet aftertaste.

Mouthfeel is full bodied and a bit chewy for the style, with a remarkably clean and not cloying finish.

Overall and outstanding pale ale. I will look for a couple more bottles of this before they disappear.
