22oz bottle - I know coffee and beer are big in Seattle, but this seems a bit too on the nose, as it's being done everywhere else.

This beer pours an almost complete black, but with subtle dark brown edges, and two fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and certainly bubbly beige head, which leaves some decent webbed lace around the glass as it slowly bleeds away.

It smells very much like Coffee Crisp candy bars - the java, the biscuity wafers, the milk chocolate - alongside a wan bready caramel malt, a bit of black licorice, and faint earthy, leafy hops. The taste is bigger on the acrid coffee side of things - milky espresso, and a further earthy bean character - grainy, crackery caramel malt, bittersweet cocoa powder, a hint of wet ash, and more leafy, grassy, and slightly floral hops.

The carbonation is quite low and non-effusive, barely a nascent frothiness arising to engage my palate in battle, the body an adequate medium weight, and equally underwhelming in its attempt at smoothness - the acridity of coffee and (hops?) alike worming its way in here. It finishes mostly dry, coffee the order of the day from very early on, which is wholly appropriate, I suppose.

A decent, pepped-up coffee stout, with enough attendant milk and cream notes to nudge it nicely into the style designation here. The Emerald City may lay claim to a metric shit ton of the two main players here, and in so doing, has engendered an affable meeting of worlds.

Poured a deep, dark brown with about two fingers of mocha head. Nice aroma of fresh coffee and a slight sweet essence. Taste is a balance of fresh coffee with chocolate and a light sweetness. This is not an overpowering coffee stout. Was slightly disappointed in feel as it comes in thinner than expected and very carbonated. Overall a solid drink if you enjoy a coffee stout that won't be heavy handed.

American stout? Milk/sweet tout? Oatmeal stout?

Whatever you think, to me it is a great stout! Exquisite coffee taste and mild sweetness are well balanced with a slight hop presence. Only the mouthfeel is a little disappointing with a faint creaminess.

Recommended!

Nice dark brown with a tan head that sticks around a good while. Awesome espresso smell! Starts off kind of sweet and finishes just like the nose with a big espresso flavor! Feels pretty watery, and that's gotta be the only thing I'd hold against this beer. This is an excellent espresso milk stout!

The quality of the coffee flavor in this beer is second to none. Very drinkable with a strong flavor profile.

Nice hit of coffee up-front that then mingles with the sweet-ish roast of the finish. Very impressive and delicious, especially considering that this is much lower abv than most coffee stouts these days. I don't miss the higher gravity at all. Bravo, Elysian!

This was poured into a nonic pint glass.
A nice looking three finger off white/tan foamy head hung around for a good minute and a half before gently dieing into the beer. Light foamy lacing clung but eventually fell into the beer.
The smell had a really nice sweet to roasty cocoa mixing well with the espresso, nice and milky thick, slightly creamy.
The taste was once again roasty and sweet speckling itself in and out of creamy cocoa and the espresso. A nice gentle roasty sweet espresso aftertaste leads to a wet finish.
The mouthfeel was about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed to be a bit under for me, but wasn't anything bad.
Overall, in my opinion, this is a pretty sessionable millk/sweet stout. She does everything that Elysian wanted. Good job guys!
