Coal black colored beer with a tall brown colored head.
Smells strongly of chocolate and patent malt. Smells a little sweet. fainter scents of cardamom and lime. Faint coffee scent.
Starts out mild and neutral with slightly sweet flavor. Char of patent malt but it stays remarkably mild in flavor. Mild chocolate and coffee with mild bitterness. Alcohol not tasted and this is a 9.5% beer.
Mouthfeel is OK.
Overall looks incredible and tastes OK. Super mild flavor that could really surprise you when that 9.5% hits you blood stream

12 oz can. ENJOY BY 08DEC26 is printed under can. Poured into a pint glass
Pours a solid black body with a tan head. Moderate head retention. Several layers of lacing
Oak jumps out at the pour and dominates the nose. I'm also getting cherry and pecan notes
The taste follows. The oak seems to taste more like cabernet Savinon then bourbon barrel oak. A touch of cherry sweetness.
Full, slightly Chewey feel
A good imperial stout that's worth getting again. Judging by the BB date this must be a relatively young one. Might be a good candidate for cellaring...

Look is coffee black, creamy, slightly uneven head. Smell is rich and aromatic— dark chocolate, nutty vanilla, sweet bourbon, and rye. Taste follows. Nutty at first, dark chocolate, rye whisky, vanilla, hints of hops in the body, then finishing with coffee and oak. Feel is very creamy and smooth. A great beer. The oak does the body well. Not too sweet, which I appreciate in a BA stout. Maybe the recipe was tweaked when it came out of retirement? I’m surprised by the lower than expected score.

Pours nearly jet black except for some ruddy brown when held to the light,a thinner deep beige head atop.Mocha and caramel aromas with a bit of char, maybe a hint of licorice,no oak to be found though.Slightly thin but not something that would be a problem for most.Mocha coffee and roast flavors up front with some caramel in the back end to go along with a tinge of alcohol sweetness. It's oak aged wich I don't really pick up but it's a solid impy stout on it's own.
