Poured into a Due South Brewing Co. snifter. This bottle doesn't have a date but I'm pretty sure one of the other bottles in the six-pack said Bottled On: 07/30/15.

A- Pours a medium amber color with a 1/4 inch off-white head that retains a bit before becoming a thin ring around the edge of the glass and a mostly full sheet of surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves a broken ring behind.

S- Dank, grassy and somewhat catty hop aroma bursts from the glass bringing some notes of grapefruit. Slightly boozy.

T- Solid bitterness combined with a heavy dose of citrus making for more grapefruit notes. Drinkability is high and so is the flavor intensity. Juicy, assertive and tasty.

M- Tangy, zesty and bright. Medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the lighter side.

O- This IPA packs a lot of punch. Lots of hops and strength delicately balanced into one package. And speaking of packaging: A delicious 8.2% IPA in a six-pack for ~$13? I'll take it!

This ipa has some good and some bad. The smell is a bit faint, maybe some sweet fruits, orange, and slight cotton candy. The taste is better, light but nicely balanced, some fruity orange and citrus with very light biscuity backbone. The mouth feel to me is a plus though, with a refreshing and slightly creamy finish. Not much lingering bitterness.

Pours between a gold and amber. Nice off white creamy head that turns a very very light yellow when swirled. Lots of lacing. Aroma is pineapple and alcohol. Taste is bitter hops then malt and then finishes bitter. Could be that the bottle was handled properly as there are some off tastes. Mouthfeel is light, slightly creamy and a medium/low carbonation. Overall a decent beer, nothing spectacular but I've got a feeling this would be better fresh and stored properly.

Pours a pleasing yellow-orange with lots of bubbly carbonation and a slight but present bone-white head. Smell is somewhat subtle, but brings to mind citrusy fruits and pine resin. The taste is quite sweet when it hits the tongue but quickly becomes hoppy and bitter. Definitely a good-tasting beer, but I found the mouthfeel disappointingly thin and almost watery (even with the six-pack I purchased was bottled on 6/26/15, about six weeks ago).

A good IPA, but not quite as good as I was expecting. This one reminds me of Long Trail's Limbo due to the thin mouthfeel but with less of a sweet, candied sugar flavor and more piney, bitter hops. Definitely drinkable and refreshing, but probably not something I'd seek out again.

12 fl. oz. bottle. Packaged at 6/1/15. Poured into tulip.

A: Clear. Golden. Poured without notable head.
S: Intense hops aroma: floral, tropical fruits (pineapple and orange).
T: Quite hoppy. High bitterness. Medium- malty. The overall flavor is hardly to be classified as "balanced", but it's good for every hoppyhead.
M: Light bodied.
O: Fresh aroma and flavor. My favorite kind of IPA.

Got my growler filled with this at my favorite local bottle store Bear World. Pours amber with a thick head. Smells a little malty and fruity. Has the requisite hops garpefruitiness and pine note but its well balanced. Plenty of alcohol here but you don't get it until . . . .

Bottle dated 4/17/15 into pint glass. Pours a hazy pale gold with a thin white head; little to no lacing. Medium carbonation. Lots of citrus in this one - bitter grapefruit, lemon rind, a little malt sweetness but mainly citrus. Medium mouthfeel, kind of sticky but not thick. Alcohol is quite well hidden. Very refreshing overall - could be dangerous at 8.2%.

Poured from a bomber into an Oregon Brewer's Festival plastic tulip. Pours a deep orange to amber with a billowy head that dissipates quickly and some slight lacing. Loads of tropical citrus in the nose and more than just a hint of alcohol. I'm thinking this is a bigger beer than the 8.2% listed. The taste differs, much more resin and sticky hops linger here more than expected. Pleasantly surprised. Damn good IPA that I'd have again in a heartbeat. Cheers!

This is a good IPA but I don't think by the taste it warrants the price (10.98/6 pack). Perhaps the hops used are an expensive type, I appreciate that, but other IPAs at the price (and lower!) are better beers. Sorry Elysian...

Pours into a nonic a dull slight orange tinged golen with a full one finger white sticky head atop, alot of broken lace left behind.Citrus fruits with a slight floral note in the nose, light alcohol and caramel is there as well.Like the full citrus shot up front on the palate along with a touch of grass with some sugary sweetness and sweet biscuit dough underneath,it never gets overly sweet.I like the fact it's as big as it is without too much sweetness.I like the Elysian pumpkin stuff in the fall but they some pretty damn good IPA's to.

Another great one from Elysian. Sister in law got me a six of this for my birthday. Nice and hoppy. Very drinkable. Poured into my DFH IPA glass. Doesn't taste like 8%+.o
Update - 11-21-15 - on tap at Elysian Ballpark in Seattle just before Seahawks/49ers game. Cramped and hot. Couldn't enjoy it. I'll be back, though.

Hazy, dull orange/gold color. White head which fades quickly. Moderate aroma of dank tropical fruits (pineapple, mango, and peach) and caramel sweetness. Flavor follows with nice tropical fruits and malty sweetness along with a moderate pine resin bitterness in the middle. Bitterness fades fairly quickly and it finishes with only a little lingering aftertaste. A little light on malt for the balance, but still pretty smooth.

Really tasty IPA. Had it on draft at the Harbor House in Bainbridge Island, WA. I have been drinking a lot of Pliny the Elder lately and this compares favorably. Very easy to drink IPA

12 oz bottle into a Sams perfect pint glass. Deep yellow to golden not quite Amber in color. Particles floating but I wouldn't call it hazy. White cap with small bubbles and nice lacing.

You can tell it's got a good grain bill and well hopped and the combination smells great. Plenty of caramel in the nose. Hops are very well balanced and it smells great. Tropical fruit and pine. Chinook, Amarillo and citra are the specified hops and in my experience they play well together.

Taste is on par with the smell. Grains provide toasted Caramel and even a bit of honey coating the grain. Hops have flavors of mango and pineapple added additions of lemon grass and pine. Tropical fruit flavors are the star though.

Mouthfeel is good. Very full bodied with a lingering flavor. Great balance of bitterness and sweetness nice carbonation as well. Sweet and citrus fresh with a nice clean bitter finish. Great drink ability I would've it expected a much lower ABV the 8.2 is WELL hidden. Great beer.

From a 12 oz single into a tulip

a: beautiful copper that lightens up to a kind of cinnamon-orange at the edges, big 3 finger head that subsides in a minute or two and leaves great lacing
s: some spicy dankness, some sweaty herbal/vegetal dankness, some mild overly ripe citrus juiciness that pairs with some fairly substantial malty sweetness.
t: mainly what I was finding at the end of the nose...a combination of mellow but very ripe and juicy citrus with substantial bready maltiness. Not as sweet as I thought it might be, based on the nose. A little of the Citra funkiness lingers at the end.
m: medium to low carbonation, hides the alcohol quite well...a little chalky at the end...very little bitterness.

I was really excited to find this at a local Giant Eagle (that I normally don't frequent). Standard orange/amber IPA with decent lacing and a finger of fluffy white head that disappeared quickly. The hop aromas come off as big peach, melon, and juicy tropical presence with some slight alcohol, honey-like sweetness (surprised by this at a fairly conservative ABV). Interesting in that the flavors, save the hint of alcohol, come away very different from the nose. Some resiny hop flavors in the mid palate and a crisp bitterness. Slightly slick/oily mouthfeel towards mid-palate, but dissolves away to a pretty dry finish. Biggest turn off on this (not saying this wasn't an excellent beer) was the alcohol notes in the taste... came together pretty well overall though. Not upset at buying a sixer.

Golden/Amber color, clear, with a big fluffy two finger head. The aroma is fruity, with a touch of sweet malt. The taste is big tropical fruity, with a touch of orange citrus and a sweet malty taste as well, nicely balanced. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with nice carbonation, and almost an oily feel, very nice. I really like this beer a lot.

I have had this beer a few times over the last couple years, but sparingly, since it's usually around $13 for a 6 pack. This one was from a 22 oz bottle. I don't know if being a 22 oz bottle changed the taste, or if it was turnover at Elysian, or some other factor, but it tasted a bit off this time around. Still good, but off. 7.2% abv.

Look: Golden, very clean and clear. Not usually the look I associate with an IPA.

Smell: Malty biscuit and fruit. It smells a bit tropical, a bit citrus(y), but definitely malty.

Taste: Again, malty biscuit and fruit. It's also bitter and smoky. I can't wait to try this one on tap somewhere, because I think it tastes a little more bitter than usual.

Feel: It's got some spice to it, but it's mostly just malty. There is a lot going on here, though, and that is exciting.

Overall: 82/100

There was a lot of freaking out when Elysian "sold out," but I didn't see the big deal. Granted they make a lot of beer and I only have had two of their offerings, but both times I was like, not bad not great. Just a decent beer, but I wouldn't buy them again. This one, though, damn good. I guess you can put me in the camp of if they make good beer, I don't care who owns it. I know this review doesn't tell you what it looks, smells, or taste like, but that doesn't matter because my review doesn't matter. I really enjoy this beer and perhaps you will too. I will definitely buy this one again.

Appearance: Pours a clear amber color capped by a couple of inches of foam; decent retention and lacing action

Smell: Biscuity malt and a fruit salad of tropical and floral fruits (passion fruit, papaya and cantaloupe)

Taste: BIscuity, with a touch of caramel; the developing hop profile is a bit different, with papaya, cantaloupe and passion fruit - not uber tropical or grapefruity; the finish has a bitter aspirin character that I often get with Amarillo

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: I will give Elysian credit here for brewing something different to try to stand out from all the other IPAs (or DIPAs, as the abv on my bottle is 8.2%); having said that, I am not a fan of Amarillo so this is not something I would be inclined to seek out - I much preferred their Dayglow that I had the other day

Wow what a treat. A nice subtle nose but the taste is where this beer is at. A perfect blend of sweetness and hop bitterness. At 8.2% per the bottle label this is a finely tuned drinkable beast.
