I had this on-tap at Max's during Baltimore beer week. Served in a sample glass.

Appearance: The beer pours a cloudy reddish amber color with a layer of off white head that leaves some mild lacing on the glass.

Smell: Buttery and slightly sweet with some hops. The hops remind me of citrus peel.

Taste: Bitter hops right off the bat with a buttery note behind the hops (maybe they used the seeds?). I do get some pumpkin here, but the hops dominate through the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with lots of tingly carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: The bitterness crushes the other flavors, but it is an IPA after all. I thought this was a very interesting beer and am glad I got to try it.

First had: tapped from a giant hollowed-out pumpkin at City Tap House, Philly, PA

This was listed as a collaboration between Elysian and Ninkasi. Sorachi Ace and Motueka hops. I do believe this is the only pumpkin IPA I've ever seen or had, and boy, was it well done.

Cloudy amber-orange pour into a tulip glass, with a small cap of dense white head that retained well and left a bit of lacing on the glass. Aroma was basically dominated by fresh hops, juicy, lemony, hints of pumpkin. Taste essentially delivered what was promised. This was not a typical pumpkin beer loaded with spice, it was more an IPA with pumpkin as an afterthought. Even being served from a hollowed-out pumpkin, the pumpkin taste was well-moderated. Fresh citrusy hops, biscuity malts, and vegetal pumpkin flesh greet the palate in a well-balanced blend. Crisp mouthfeel, medium body, and quite drinkable. They pretty much nailed this one.
