Pours hazy and on golden hues with a soft orange blush. Thin head of white foam that fell quickly and left some good sheeting lace. Nose is orange. The tangy sweet blood orange. A bit of the pith and a touch of sugar for malt. Taste is lovely citrus with that blood orange prominent and then a touch fo the tart grapefruit to hold it up. A little bit of sweet herbal and a and a bit of cracker from the malt carry this one to the finish like a spiked orange -ade.

I just loved this and think it's one the most pleasant pales I have tried. Sweet and tart combine seamlessly for a a palate that is quenched and satisfied. Light fruity and juicy mouthfeel. Silken malt with ample carbonation. Crisp and bold palate with a brisk finish and lingering tartness and slight bitterness.

look: 3.5 | smell: 3.25 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

APPEARANCE: This is a very fizzy beer. Medium sized bubbles can only be described as darting towards the surface. The head the eventually hit is only about a quarter of an inch thick when it is first poured and it quickly fades into a wispy cap. The liquid underneath is a murky, burnt orange.

SMELL: Orange hits the nose first while a piney, grassy and somewhat chalky (I know that sounds weird) aroma rounds it out.

TASTE: A lot of citrus flavors make themselves apparent right off the bat. Grapefruit showed up for this party, but orange is definitely the host. Again, there is a bit of chalkiness to the flavor here. It isn’t a bad thing at all, in fact, it seems to balance out some of the potentially sweeter fruit flavors.

MOUTHFEEL: This is a really big beer for only being 5.4%. It drinks more like an 8%er. Semi-sweet up front while the finish dries out with a slight hop bitterness and that chalkiness discussed above. There is a light tickle, but the carbonation is subtle.

OVERALL: With the weather getting better every week, I am going to need snag a six-pack of this before it dries up for the season. A nice, relaxing porch session is what this beer is all about.
