Enjoyed out of a brown 22 oz bomber with no date that I can locate. Poured into a Boulevard Smokestack Series tulip glass. Distinctive custom artwork on the label for this Oddland series of beers from Elysian.

Appearance - Pours a brassy golden color with some orange and brownish hues and highlights. Head is about a finger thick and slightly off-white, dissipating after a few minutes and leaving slick, silky lacing that fades away.

Smell - Two dominant aromas are the floral spiciness of pink peppercorn and a yeasty bread characteristic, like sourdough. Also some mild sweetness and citrus peel, but faint.

Taste - The beginning is more of that round yeast characteristic, but that quickly gives way to peppery heat and complexity. Certainly one of the most pepper-forward peppercorn saisons that I've tried. Tasty, but at the same time one note. I get the sense that there is some depth missing here.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied and moderate carbonation. Tingling sensation from the spiciness that lingers.

Overall, a well-crafted take on the peppercorn saison, but I wish there was a bit more complexity. This one is all pepper and yeast, and while I like both of those things, but the end of my bomber, I was a little tired of it.

Pours a cloudy, dark golden orange color with tangerine edges and a half finger, off-white head that immediately fades into a thin ring.  Minimal spotty lacing left behind.

Spicy, earthy aroma with a strong peppery presence along with funky barnyard yeast, bread, light fruit, citrus, grass, straw and earthy hops.  Hoppier presence than expected but still some farmhouse must.  Peppercorns fade as it warns but are still prominent in the nose.  Some flower petal/rose water character complimenting the bready farmhouse yeast and citrus zest.

Medium body with a strong  bread/yeast character along with spicy peppers that compliment the zesty citrus notes.  Strong carbonation with earthy funk, grassy hops and spicy peppercorn.  Prominent wheat/bread/bubblegum flavors taking away from the saison/farmhouse yeast and spicy peppercorns.  Somewhat floral but I was expecting  this beer to have more farmhouse funk.  Instead, it feels more like a peppery wheat beer that's been aggressively hopped.

Coming in a 650ml bomber brown bottle, bottle-conditioned; no BB date is printed on the bottle/label, served gently chilled in Hapkin’s short-stemmed tulip-shaped sniffer.

A: pours a dark golden to light amber hue, coming with great clarity, a thin off-white foamy head and rather restrained level of carbonation.
S: pepper-cone-ish spicy and dusty notes combine with sweet wood aroma, coriander-seed-like spicy esters, sugary pale malts, semi-sweet orangey citrusness and faintly funky yeastiness to deliver a light bodied but intriguing experience. Given a good swirl, other elements emerge such as spelt malt, old tangerine peels, etc.
T: lightly carbonated on the entry, first there comes an acute flavour dominated by white pepper spiciness and almost coriander-like esters, ensued by lightly tannic citric peel-ish as well as lightly phenolic undertones against light-bodied pale maltiness. The flavour texture remains quite flat, though, and the finishing touch, despite being pleasantly spicy and delicately bitter, does not deliver anything deeper or substantial.
M&O: medium-bodied, lightly carbonated but sometimes the texture falls a bit flat; this spiced Saison does have some charmingly spicy elements to it, but falling short of the level of complexities that could hook my palate.

The beer is an orange color. Clear, no yeast. Thick head which dissipates. When I try to smell the beer, I can tell there's something there, but my sense of smell is too weak to pick it up. The flavor is initially what I expect from a saison, but then the peppercorns hit. They work nicely with the hops. Very tasty. The spice from the peppercorns lingered, which I liked.
