Nice looking place, relatively easy to walk from downtown, with the usual appearance of a brewpub, with the tuns, bar, and tables. Good looking, but certainly nothing special.
A decent food selection, well done but nothing spectacular.
Decent selection of their own beers, mediocre selection if you are looking for something else. A nice number of their own beers covering most major styles, plus one on cask.
Decent service, some of them more knowledgeable than others.
Solid brewpub, easy to reach from downtown makes it worth a visit.

Didn't grab any food here, but the atmosphere is nice. The place is fairly small so not the best place to cart any little ones, but Elysian is always experimenting and you can bet they have something new. The quality of those brews varies wildly, but I recommend putting this place on your list for a place to stop with friends.

Went here after the Sounders game to grab a brew before heading up north. Decently busy with a good vibe going on...but that was quickly squashed by the multiple jerks we encountered who worked there. Mediocre beer. Avoid.

Being from Seattle ive been to this place a few times. Beer is mediocre and so is the food. Don't bother going if the Seahawks or Sounders are playing, you wont get in. Its overpriced for the beer but you're paying fpr the location, I guess.

I came in here not long after they'd sold to AB INBev and that kind of tainted my experience. It shouldn't have but my mind couldn't help feeling a bit resentful.

There were lots of beers in a cooler for to-go sales and a big restaurant feel to the place (Capitol Hill location). Something about the place was sterile and I guess another thing that rubbed me wrong was the liquor on display too. I want a brewery, not a bar, when I visit a brewery or one of its satellites.

Still, the beers here tasted pretty good and the service was fine. Beer selection varied and there were some unique offerings I wouldn't just find in a store. Worth a visit, I suppose.

ok...this is a very simplistic review. i had attended the seattle mariners game and left early(they were getting spanked) to go to elysian. i was one of six or so people at the bar at the time(seats at least twenty five) and ordered their standard ipa..it came in a plastic cup. i requested a glass and was informed game days they will not give a glass. sorry...that sucks ass...they were at maybe 10 percent capacity for the entire place. i left and walked about fifty yards to get myself a nice seattle made pint in a glass. plastic is fine for the ball park, but not a brewpub, especially if i would be considered special it i received one.

The second beer stop on our first day in the northwest and we decided to checkout capital hill, which happened to be the location of Elysian. Having a slight bias against it hearing that Dick Cantwell had left the company after the AB acquisition left him with a bad taste among other things.

The vibe of the place was slightly generic. The open / airyness of the big room was enjoyable on the day we were there since it was so warm out. But the standard looking bar with TV's and lack of character made it look and feel very.. not my thing.

The selection of beer was good - Lots of choices for hoppy beers, a sour or two, a few lagers, and stouts. I didn't inquire about guest taps but the list of Elysian beers was about 15+ long. From the flight I sampled of the two hoppy beers and the sour (flanders red style) I was happy with the quality.

The service was decent, but again, not a fan of the over bearing weight staff asking every 10 minutes if you need another beer when you have half a pint you are enjoying right in front of you.

Didn't try any food.

I'm sure the place hasn't change significantly since the acquisition and exodus of Mr. Cantwell, but I got the sence that it was more laid back and welcoming a year ago. Even some of the locals we spoke to along the way commented on this saying it wasn't the same. I'd probably pick up a sixer of their beer if I saw it around but wouldn't go out of my way to go back to the brewery.

I loved wood and open feel of the Elysian on Capitol Hill. Very neighborhood feel with a selection of draft and bottles for purchase. Didn't try the food, but sat in watched football on a Sunday afternoon.
