The only place we went to twice while in Seattle.

Kind of a hipster establishment, and I noticed that all the beer gear on the walls here (besides Elysian's) was Belgian or Belgian style.
Definitely hints of subculture all over, though. The first time we were there, it was dead, and the second time it was packed, we enjoyed ourselves both times.

Beers were all exceptional. Clean, good cask, etc.

Service wasn't bad, but typical of what we came to expect for the rest of our trip in Seattle. A little slow, a little unenthusiastic.

Selection was really good. Several house beers, one from another Elysian locale and a couple guest taps (which were, admittedly, a bit boring). Over the course of two visits, I had the Bifrost, both IPAs, a bitter, a pale on cask and half of my wife's stout and porter. All were excellent.

The food was also really good, and we had our first experience with the "Mediterranean platter" here. We noticed that alot of places in Seattle had appetizers that were basically some hummus, feta cheese, baba ganoush, olives and pita bread, all things that I love. In Michigan, particularly in the university corridors, there are tons of Mediterranean restaurants. From where I sit now, in East Lansing, I could literally drive to 12 middle east/ mediterranean restaurants in 5 minutes. Not many in Seattle, maybe that's why we saw so many places with these platters. Anyway, the food made a nice lunch.

I had never been to Elysian on Capitol Hill before, so I hoofed it up the hill after work yesterday and checked it out. I really like the atmosphere; it feels like an old pub in there, with various flags hanging from the ceiling and lots of old, beat-up wood. It feels sort of industrial inside, in a wood-hewn kind of way; it even smells woody inside. I've been to Elysian Fields down by the stadium several times, but I must say I prefer the hominess of this location more.

They had 17 beers on tap, quite a good collection. I had the I-5 Amarillo, their collaboration with Central City up in BC, and quite liked it. The service was prompt and friendly; you can't ask too much more of a pub. I feel like this is definitely a place I could patronize regularly.
