We bumped into this place after a long walk through berlin. Not a place you would expect to find it; the very urban part of berlin called the Potsdamer Platz. Near a park and well shaded. There are 10 or so beers on tap and 100 in bottles from all over the world. Since i was visiting germany, and can get most of those beers in New York, i was more interested in the tap selections of german beer. However, the overall interest in beer makes one feel that the taps were handled well. Raderberger, budvar and Berliner Weiss were all very good.

Also had outstanding traditional Liver, smoked meat and traditional potato dishes.

Highly recommend.

Of all the drinking places I visited in Berlin, including any number of small random roadside bars with a selection of 10 beers max, I have to say this is probably my least favorite. Located smack bang in the middle of Potsdamer Platz, the hustle and bustle of commuters and tourists holding their Berlin roadmaps upside down struggling to locate the Brandenburger Tor, Mommseneck am Potsdamer Platz makes for an extremely uncomfortable drinking experience. If the noise and general busyness wasn’t enough to deter you from this place, then let it be the copy-pasted beer list of the original Mommsen-eck out on Mommsenstrasse, only apparently featuring more mainstream brews. Prices are what you would expect from a location in the middle of the city’s tourist center. Everything seems needlessly expensive, with bottles costing from €1 up to €2.5 more than they do on Mommsenstrasse. The food menu includes some German classics, but is mostly poncy stuff like salads, American, Italian and Asian-style dishes. You will also easily cough up an extra €4-5 for a dish you can eat in a far superior setting you-know-where. And oh yes: service is incredibly slow and unattentive. All in all, I say objectively speaking it's not too bad, but seeing how the original is so much better in every way, this place is a complete waste of space. Just visit the original and keep it at that. You’re welcome.

The new Mommseneck (Mommsen Corner) 100 Beers House is a tourist place. Go to the original for a better selection and a better bar.

My scores are good for here because the choice is very good for Berlin, I do not like the place really though, as I know the original so well, it was my favorite beer bar when I lived in Berlin as the wall came down.

Potsdamer Platz was grabbed by the money men when the wall fell and was developed very swiftly and I have to say in a modern, fairly impressive way, the Sony Centre, station and shopping arcade are all fine, as is the brewery bar within the complex. It is all just a bit new for me, I prefer the old Berlin, solid and traditionally German. The new multi-international buildings don't have the same feel to them.

So in a nutshell, everything here is good for the new tourist, Berlin. If you think this is great, get yourself to the orginal and have a ball.

Mommseneck is located in the center of a bustling tourist district. They have abundant seating outside in both the front and the rear, lots of seating in the barroom, a large bar, and an upstairs, too. They have 12 local beers on tap and a beer list with 100 bottles. About 50 of these are German beers, about 25 are european beers, and the rest from everywhere else. The service is what you would expect in a large popular bar, and the prices reflect how far the beer has traveled to get there. It's a nice place to enjoy beer with other tourists.
